    Icon4 Problems with the Multiplayer CD Key

    I bought Rome several years ago, and have always played the campaign, with little interest in the online mode. However, I recently became fascinated with online play on Empire: Total War, and so wanted to give it a try on Rome as well. I put in the CD key that I have over, and over, and over, with no results. I went to GameSpy for help on the matter, and the forums on there said to go to GameSpy support. It was at this point that I found that GameSpy support no longer exists. I have run out of options. It is not an illegally downloaded copy, it is the CD key that came in the case, and every time I use it to try to get online it says "Invalid CD Key." Can anyone help me?

    have you tried typing exactly what it says with dashes that should work

    Yeah I tried that. Dashes and everything. Tried it making the letters caps,tried it with them lowercase. Tried it with the dashes, tried it without. I'm at a loss.

    the stock answer is to make absolutely sure the cd key you are entering is exactly the same as the printed one-- "was that a 0 or an O," etc...

    despite tedious "data entry," however, i too have had trouble with some cd keys and trying to go through the "proper" channels (contacting the publisher/developer) can be futile

    easiest way: get a "new" gold edition rome total war and use the "new" cd key (i have several copies of rtw to cover the random lost/damaged disk and older editions and eventually a "cd key" will work)

    I also have a few copies lol.

    Wait a minute.... maybe that's the problem.. Is it possible that the CD key I used for installation could be different because I am using a different CD to play? I can't imagine that would make much of a difference, but would using the CD key from the other copy I have work?

    Meh.. it didn't work. Any other suggestions? I don't exactly have the money to go and just buy a bunch of copies of the game until a CD key works.

    try unistaling and reinstaling then try
