    Default Game Controller Problem

Recently bought a bog standard USB game controller from Amazon. I've plugged it in and gone through basic calibration which is fine according to windows. But in trying to play F1 with it just now, I don't even think it knows it's there!!!

    Any ideas??

CoD MW also proving a problem with it...though less so as FPS with a keyboard makes me feel retro!!

Some PC games detect certain limited controllers only & what about CoD MW? Is it not being detected or not responding appropriately? Have you installed the proper drivers for it?

Codemasters doesnt use of DX Input anymore which is what most standard PC controllers are, you need to use X Input controller, which is essentially the input of the XBOX 360 controller some Logitechs etc etc.

they did the same thing to me i have a Saitek P990 used it for like 5 years with no problems but with Dirt2 F1 2010 and Dirt 3 so i just bought a Logitech branded X input controller for $20 and called it a day.

basically any game marketed as Games for Window uses X input for the controller. keep that in mind for the future.

Alot of games are using that now, you pretty much need to buy a wired Xbox 360 controller to ensure support in most games, GTA 4 and Battlestations Pacific are other examples

    Resident Evil 5
    The Last Remnant
    Dirt 2
    F1 2010
    Dirt 3
    GTA IV
    Batman Arkham Asylum
    Street Fighter 4

etc etc all use X input. some will let you use DX input but for general usage a 360 controller is pretty much mandatory at this point .
