Bond is not supposed to be invincible, but he needs to be in control of everything. He might be tied up in iron chains with a laser pointed at his head, but he won't panic. Rather, he'll use a cool gadget to get himself out, turn the laser on the guards, and then deliver a snappy one-liner.
