Default How would I go about in getting hold of the cutscenes/events and putting them up onto youtube?

I need help as I already own Shogun 2 packfile manager and so can can open that up

however when I try to open up the movies section and try to click on one of the videos

This comes up telling me I dont have the software to see these videos/cutscenes.

So basically what im asking is what tools do I need to use in order to watch these videos and where can I find the links to such tools?

Also will I need tools in order to extract these videos?

Side Note: I got told to come here from the Total War.com website as the people there believed there might be someone else here who might be able to help me.

    Hey.

What you are looking at are actually subtitles! The video files for Shogun 2 are in five .pack files (as far as I know). They are named 'movies.pack', 'movies2.pack', 'patch_movies.pack', 'patch_movies2.pack', and 'patch_movies3.pack'.

They use the '.bik' file format. I'm not farmiliar with uploading videos to YouTube, but if .bik isn't on a list of supported container files, you will have to convert it. I have only converted to the .bik format, but if you look at the tool "RAD video tools" you should be able to convert the .bik file to a file that YouTube will accept. (In the multimedia context, a container file is something that contains a video file/video files, an audio file/audio files and occasionally other things like subtitles). Here's the link: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm

    Good luck.

Ok I found the movies section and i clicked on your link and downloaded the tools and I was able to play the Geisha movies

But When I try to play ninja videos for example

    This comes up
    Attachment 174778

Why is it saying that the ninja videos are not bink files yet the geisha ones are? Also I would like to add that so far only the geisha videos are working for me do u know why this is?

Edit im finding that there's a few more of the videos that work but again the vast majority are saying what's shown above which is that it doesn't use bink software.

Now that is strange. Just to make sure there wasn't a problem with the software itself, I opened the same file "ass-nin-drip-gen-cmp-att.bik" and a few others and I haven't had that error. Odd that some work perfectly fine...

Try to convert one of the videos that Bink won't play for you.

When in PFM, right click on the .bik file and hit "extract selected.." and tell it where to extract. Then open up "RAD video tools", go to where you extracted that .bik file and hightlight it. Hit "convert a file", which will bring up a converter page. You don't need to change anything in the "convert video" section, however you will need to do one small selection in the "convert audio" section. Under "convert output format," select "to 16-bit/stereo" (unless you prefer otherwise.)

After that, hit "convert" under the 'Bink Video' logo. Before converting it will ask you what video compression you would like to use. Unless you prefer otherwise, I suggest using "Xvid MPEG-4 Codec" as it has great compatibility and I doubt you would have a problem uploading to YouTube with that.

Now while I'm not directly dealing with your inability to play .bik files, if you are successful you should be able to play the same video, albeit converted to use different video and audio codecs.
