I have to go with Abbey Road, but I like them all. The thing about The Beatles is that they have so many great songs, it impossible to choose which one you like most...

Yes, I do realize that choosing one album is not exactly the best way of doing this poll, but rather than have most albums get a vote each per person I would rather have people really think about which album defines the Beatles and who they are. If I allowed multiple votes at once, I would have picked nearly all of them.

Sgt. Pepper is the best album, although I don't like the beatles all that much.

Now that's a tough question for me. I love the White album, but Rubber Soul has always been a favorite of mine. They all rule.

This should be in the music section, but, damn, that was the hardest poll of my TWC life . Honestly, it is hard to pick one, I feel bad for picking a favorite. I always listen to them, non-stop, but, it all depends on the mood, very tough.

    Please Please Me

Their first album, Please Please Me is also the title of their first #1 U.S Hit . Love Me Do, although their first song, only reached #14 on the British Charts. I enjoy Please Please Me for the simple, "pure" sound of the music. It is the roots of the beatles, no experimenting, just raw music.

Well, she was just seventeen, and you know what I mean
And Before too long, I fell in.........

    With The Beatles

Basically, in my opinion, the sister of Please Please Me . They could of been a double album. Probably one of my least favorite, it is still very good.

    A Hard Days Night

The Influence of 60's rock is first seen upon The Beatles. While nowhere near the experimental stages of their later career, A Hard Days Night has some influences upon it. If You wish to understand what I mean, Listen to "I Saw Her Standing there" and then turn on A Hard Days Night . You will understand what I mean.

    Help!

Help! is the bridging point between The Beatles of old, and the sensational Album, Rubber soul. Do not underestimate it though, Help! is a great album, especially the song from which it is named after. The song itself, Help! is considered one of Lennon's greats, and it is impossible to deny The maturing songwriting talents of the Beatles.

    Rubber Soul

Considered by many to be the Beatles greatest album, it was the halfway point of Their career. On one influence of the Album, the past few years of Old time Rock n Roll is experienced, on the other influence, Sitars, and overdubbing are first encountered. Songs such as "Drive My Car", "I'm Looking Through you", "Norwegian Wood" make it big in the U.S and the rest of the world. The "new Harrison" is also uncovered. The addicting melodies of Norwegian wood on the Sitar, and his few songs on the album are very good, and hold up to Lennon-McCartney very well.

I voted for Rubber soul, but that is only because I couldnt choose, and just clicked a random one.

    Revolver

Revolver was not as popular as Rubber Soul, but, it's fame and fortune at its release were still absolutely stunning. Still considered a Revolutionary album, unique, strange styles are blended into it. Some of their most underrated music is on it. Once again, a good album. It also boasts the title of the only song that cannot be physically reproduced again, Tomorrow Never Knows.

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

The Album which defined the 60's. The album which, until not too long ago, was the top selling album of all time, single sided. Sgt. Peppers is so, unique, you cant listen to it once, you have to listen to it again, and again. Harrison, heavily influenced by the Hare Krishna's, adds heavy indian influence into a few songs. Starr, he gets the main vocals on "A Little Help from my Friends". The songs which I believe stand out the most on the album are, 'When i'm 64", "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Lovely Rita", " A Day in the Life".

    The White Album

When the Beatles visited India, their musical talents were unleashed, once again. They could think freely, breathe. For once, the Beatles were not hemmed in, and, because of this, wrote pure magic. The Top selling Double album to this day i believe, the White Album is magnificent. It is so varied, you have to listen to it many times, then you are addicted. For once, Harrison takes the prize of the song which stands out, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". The good songs are in abundance though, Blackbird, Honey Pie, Glass Onion, USSR just to name a few. Also, the first recorded metal song is on this album, Helter Skelter. George martin and Ringo Starr agree though, they could of made a fantastic, even better than Peppers, single album out of it.

    Abbey Road

The last recorded Beatles album, Let it be was made before, but released after. (Recorded in Summer - Fall of 69) For some reason, this album has recently grasped my attention, and I cant say anything bad about it, except for it is the last. In this album, you notice, that the music of the 60's is almost gone, but, a revival in the roots, with this mix, is startling.

    Lennon
starts off with "Come Together", but that is just the start. Once again, and startlingly, Harrison IMHO takes the prize of the songs of the Album. "Something" & "Here Comes the Sun" are on the album, simple, but brilliant. The Rest of the songs, they are the same, I cant even describe it. Golden Slumbers, with McCartney on the Piano, and Harrison on the Bass, is great, especially when it fades into "Carry that Weight". I think what captures my attention the most is, "The End" . In this song, every member of the band has their own solo, even Ringo! Once you listen to it, you have to listen to it again, because, it is the Beatles last.

    Let it Be

    Let it Be
is their last released album, and it is sad. The music was recorded during the winter of 68-69, and you can tell they dont want to be with each other. The music is sad, and only during a few songs does it have the magic. Although a great album, you can notice the sadness, and the group almost saying, farewell. I've got a Feeling, that the Long and Winding Road, which stretches across the Universe, finally broke them.

    * For a Good Combo of musical greatness, Listen to "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" then fade into "The End" (the instrumental part, not the vocal one) then switch to "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band (Reprise)". It is great. If you dont know what I mean, Go on limewire type in Paul McCartney, and DL the Sgt. Peppers movie.

Wow, PyrrhusIV, you've got good knowledge on the Beatles. I knew some of the stuff you posted, but there is much more I have learned. (Such as the White Album and India, I have only listened to that Album once and sadly do not own it.)

And if you think this was hard, imagine if I asked you all to post your single favorite song from the Beatles. I'd choose Something, but there are so many wonderful songs that a poll of them would make it feel like I am trying to limit music. Oh, and one last thing, I also need to get the Sgt. Pepper's CD, I have always wanted to listen to it in its entirety. (I have only heard a few songs off it) Maybe I should even get limewire, so I can "take your advice."

Funny thing about the Beatles is that I used to not like them until I actually listened to them, they have something for everyone as far as their music goes.

I have all of those albums, and Revolver is by far the best in my book. Revolver is where the Beatles evolved from being a simple boy band to being serious artists writing profound lyrics and complex music. It was created when they first began experimenting with LSD, and much of the music is dark and trippy. All of the songs on the album seem to flow so well together, which I really can't say of the other albums. Unlike their other masterpieces (White Album, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper) there isn't a single song on Revolver that I consider as being "filler". The only mistake that I think the Beatles made with Revolver is that they didn't include the song "Rain", which would have fit in quite nicely. And the album cover for Revolver is very cool.

This has to be the hardest poll to answer ever on these boards. But Ill have to go with Abbey Road. I consider the second side of that album to be the best and ultimate side of any album ever made.

Wow, PyrrhusIV, you've got good knowledge on the Beatles
Yes almost as good as mine and thats saying alot. Not to brag bit I consider myself pretty much an expert on the Beatles and the whole British Invasion , having lived through it and my brother being one of the worlds largest Beatle collectors.

Unlike most bands the Beatles in general improved with every album. They didnt just stick to one particular style like most bands that proceeded them . But that makes every album a little time capsule that transports me back to those glorious days of being a teenager . Never was there better music than in the 60s and there was no band in the 60s that could hold a candle to the Beatles. There still isnt to this day.

I'm bored, so here's my mini-review of all their albums that I've heard in detail, in the style of PyrrhusIV.

    Rubber Soul
You can trace back the Beatles' evolving from boy-band to music of the gods, but in my opinion it starts here. Drive My Car is a relatively standard rock song, but catchy in its own right; it does seem to stick out from the rest of the album. From my point of view the album really starts with Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), a simple but complicated song which sets the mood for the rest of the album. Skipping over You Won't See Me, Nowhere Man is possibly my favorite song on the album; melodic and meaningful. The rest of the songs flow together really well.

    Revolver
I only picked up Revolver yesterday - my Beatles superfandom is relatively new - but, in the words of that annoying McDonald's commercial, I'm lovin' it. In Revolver the Beatles have completed the transfer from boy band to artists; every song on the album is great, but I'll only do my favorites. Taxman is an upbeat and funny song, contrasting with Eleanor Rigby, a slower and sadder song, and in my opinion the best song on the album. I'm Only Sleeping is also an excellent song. Yellow Submarine, She Said She Said, And Your Bird Can Sing, For No One, I Want to Tell You seal the album as a work of art, and Tomorrow Never Knows ends it on a lingering note. (And can physically never be produced again, as Pyrrhus said!)

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sgt. Pepper's has been my favorite for a while. Not anymore maybe, but still a wonderful album. The two Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band songs begin and end the album in a good way; I like how Sgt. Pepper fades into With A Little Help From My Friends. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Getting Better, She's Leaving Home, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Lovely Rita, and Good Morning, Good Morning are my favorites on the album. A Day in the Life ends it on a psychedelic and sublime note; my second-favorite on the album.

    The Beatles (White Album)
I got this one yesterday too, so it hasn't fully sunk in yet. We see the invididual talents of the Beatles here; John Lennon contributes most of the rocker songs (though Paul McCartney throws in his two cents with Helter Skelter), McCartney contributes softer songs, Harrison contributes the classic While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Ringo gives I believe his first composition, Don't Pass Me By. Disc 2 surpasses Disc 1 in my opinion. The White Album sets the mood for the following Beatles albums. Songs like Back in the USSR, Glass Onion, Birthday and Helter Skelter show the roots of rock as we know it. I still don't get Revolution 9.

    Abbey Road

I think Abbey Road is my favorite album now, followed by Revolver. It seems like the Beatles know it's their last effort, so they're damn well going to make it good; and it bloody is. Come Together is an iconic rock song; Something is a classic love song; Maxwell's Silver Hammer is proof McCartney was on LSD (but still a good song  ); Oh! Darling is another rock song, on a softer note that Come Together; Octopus's Garden is a sing-song classic and showcases Ringo's emerging talents. I Want You (She's So Heavy) is another iconic rock song from Lennon, with bloody nice guitar; and Here Comes The Sun is a great contribution from Harrison. The second half of the album I consider one song; they all flow together, ending with The End (and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make) and then finishing on a cheeky note with Her Majesty.

Right, I just wasted a lot of time! I change my vote to Abbey Road.
