As noted before, I have been playing around a lot with Harad.
These are my questions and ideals to increase the challenge of Harad players.
Only Ur, Achas Annabon, Athan Dad, and Caras Nann have Ivory.
Yet you can build Ivory Routes and Ivory Trade Masters in Annumbar, Umbar, Habad, Haradlond, Harn Gond, Lond Elenath, Harondor North/South, Caranbad, Anorlith, Caras Agar, and Athancaras which don't have Ivory...
End result is an economic windfall for Harad players and the AI and the game becomes less of a challenge.
I'm interested in the reasoning for these cities which don't have Ivory getting the Ivory Route nd Trademasters?
Proposal to increase the challenge of Playing Harad:
Rework that entire system for Ivory Trade. Only Ur, Achas Annabon, Athan Dad, and Caras Nann should be able to build Ivory Routes and this in turn will allow you to hire Horsemen of the Harnen who sprung up to protect the Ivory Routes. It also limits their recruitment, requiring careful logistical planning to utilize them on campaign as this stimulates the majority of those Horsemen being with the Ivory Caravans.
Then comes city development. Ivory comes from dead Mumakil which requires finding dead Mumakil or hunting them. Enter the Ivory Trade Master which represents men and women who through bribery, aggressive pre-emptive strikes, or helpful governors, have eliminated threats to their Ivory Trade from Bandits and now have live Mumakils who they captured as babies to raise and breed to have a more steady supply of tusks and to sell as prestige pets to nobles who have other ideals for these beasts. The trademasters also have large numbers of experienced Harnen Horsemen who are less needed now.
You can then build Mumakil Training Centers. Though I would up their cost and upkeep to quadruple what it currently is. I don't want to even begin to think how much food goes for those creatures and the amount of crap they'll produce.
End result is you can still make good money through Ivory, but not overwhelmingly so and careful planning with Mumakils is essential to avoid breaking the bank.
