Default Which of the Ten Commandments is disregarded the most?

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long.

    Thou shalt not kill.

    Thou shalt not commit adultery.

    Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

Which is disregarded the most? Personally, I think it is "thou shalt not steal".

They're all broken to such a large extent that it's probably impossible to tell, but I break "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." pretty often

The one about the Sabbath is probably the most broken. Taking the Lord's name in vain is common too. Hech, as Tostig pointed out, they are all broken/

It depends upon the community... Overall, I would say where I live, it would be breaking the Sabbath. People go to shops, watch TV etc. In the strictest sense of the word 'sabbath,' it is broken by virtually all.

Not really, as I believe that in this case the interpretation of the Hebrew as "God" would also apply to anything which takes higher precedent in ones life than God himself. e.g. material possesions e.t.c.

I would definitly say that this is the most oft broken one.

    And then this :

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

because even Atheists say stuff like "OH God." or "Je-sus Christ"

The one that is most broken is Remember the sabbath day, thou shalt keep it holy, followed by Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain and Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long.

That's HONOR, you freedom hating commie **! J/K

    Back on topic...

I would have to go with the one about the sabbath, given that most people will at do something not considerd resting on that day, even the a relativly puritanical Christian will go on a walk or something.

    Thou shalt not kill

    followed by:

Thou shalt covet thy neighbors belongings

    followed by:

    Thou shalt not commit adultery

I have a real problem with the whole "Thou Shalt Not Kill" bit. I mean, I have to defend myself and back up my kleptomania somehow, right?

Well actually "Thou shalt not kill" refers to murder. Killing to defend yourself does not count, nor does war as long as the person you are killing is a legitamate soldier. Now if it is to defend you kleptomania well thats different.

I definately think the coveting your neighbor's goods is the most broken. Remembering the Sabbath means to spend time with your family and go to church. Yes it also means don't work, but if you have no other means to support yourself the you have to do what you have to do. I think people covet everything and therefore it is the one broken most often.
