Launcher: Incorrect Folder
Upon clicking the ‘Play Roma Surrectum II’ button on the launcher, the following message windows come up in this order (with RomeTW.exe and Macedon as the sample choices—and the appropriate Total War CD was inserted for each):
Ready?
Have you selected the faction which you want to play already?
-Yes- -No-
RSII – error
If you get this error, then you’ve probably done something wrong. Please report the next three messages.
-OK-
RSII – error 1/3
You don’t have Roma Surrectum II installed in the correct folder. (C:\Untroubled Program Files\The Creative Assembly\RSII_Public)
-OK-
RSII – error 2/3
Engine: RomeTW.exe, Faction campaign: -mod:play_macedon
-OK-
RSII – error 3/3
In total: ‘RomeTW.exe –mod:play_macedon –show_err –nm –movie_cam’
I followed the installation instructions very carefully. I checked and double-checked both before and after installation: I do have the '.exe' files for both RTW and BI and they are both patched as specified to 1.5 and 1.6 respectively (I do not have Alexander). I have Windows 7 and a new computer with a decent graphics card, and I made sure to adjust graphics settings down, especially for vegetation. I installed the most current RSII patch that I could find (2.1a) before attempting to launch the mod. From what I can see, the only way in which my folder differs from the examples is in that I have a THS folder inside it. Any ideas?

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
Hmm can you run RS2_RTW.bat please, your install looks fine. If running the bat file & choosing the options starts the game, then we can go from there..

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
Good
the bat files do basically the same thing.
Ok can you go to your rs2 folder, open the launcher folder, and run the launcher from there?

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
I tried it twice and unfortunately I got the same error messages as before (those recorded in the first post of this thread).

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
OK make sure you're running as admin, thats the first thing.
Secondly, in the launcher, if you're going to play BI make sure you select BI as your engine. Your error message:
Engine: RomeTW.exe, Faction campaign: -mod:play_macedon
shows that you are running the original RTW, but if you're using BI that might cause a problem.

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
Both good suggestions, but I have been careful about these two matters from the beginning due to some previous experiences with other games and mods. I have both changed the settings to "Always run as administrator" in a general toggle (or two) and selected "Run as administrator" for individual instances by right-clicking just to be sure. As for the engine, I tested the launcher using both RTW and BI, and I made sure that the disc I inserted always correctly corresponded to my choice in the launcher. I think both of these possibilities can be safely eliminated.

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
This is from my launcher folder. Is this what you wanted to see, or is there something else?

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
I suppose nothing new can be gleaned from this screenshot. At any rate, would you recommend replacing the launcher?

Re: Launcher: Incorrect Folder
I am confused by this one..
Everything is in the correct place, so i cant see why the launcher can't find the right files...
The launcher is basically a nice looking script, so replacing it would theoretically give you the same problem..
All i can say is that there is a new launcher coming out for 2.2, and hopefully that'll solve your problem then
Until then, it might be that you'll need to use the bat files.
