Default Stainless Steel 6.4 with BGR III

I found the new BGR IV EH a bit too hard. It is ok for a short campaign, but I'm into playing epic long campaigns and it can be very annoying to check every single general each turn.

On the other hand I absolutely love the zeal system, when I play BGR II, it is too easy with some fractions.

    So:

can I use the setup.exe without marking any BGR mods and then install BGR III manually. Will that work, or is it not compatible with SS 6.4?

Adding the lines, files etc manually is possible. There might even be a bundle ready in the BGR topic. One thing I don't recommend is just copy/pasting the readymade BGRIII files for 6.1 or similar.

The last stand alone installet I could find was for 6.1. My plan was

    a) Setup (no BGR marked)
    b) BGR III with Installer
    c) Menhec Sub mod

I have no clue about modding, so I'm pretty sure I would something up by adding lines manually.

Alternatively, is it possible to install the game normally (BGR IV EH) and delete the new finance system manually (generals purse, scutage, wealth tax..)? I guess it will be very tricky, since it is such a big part of the new mod.

Keep your royal family small. Even if you control 30 territories having more than 8-12 family is unnecessary. Deny some of them marriage so you aren't overwhelmed with children. Princesses are like insurance policy- keep them unmarried just in case things go badly wrong and you need new family members until they are almost past marriage age then use them to solidify loyalty or gain alliances. Don't adopt unless the guy is a saint.

Far too complex to delete finance system manually. However your reasons for going to III from IV are really only true for a while - when you are low on the learning curve. I definitely dont check every single general's traits every turn and many turns may pass without me checking any. You get warning announcements of important traits changing (unless you are using hotseat).

You should be able to install BGRIII as you say with the BGRIII installer as long as you think you understand the instructions, but possibly not meneths sub mod as well. If you run the SS6.4 installer after the BGRIII one, the BGRIII stuff would get deleted. If you try it, it may be best to try it on a separate install.

Imo it's a shame that zeal doesn't improve after a longer period of time. Correct me if I'm wrong but people would assimilate. I'm playing Byzantine's and 4 turns in I already have the lowest faction zeal possible.
