Default More Historical Late Campaign Map by Popovic-[Project in work]

Okay, this is just a very small submod/tweak I am using myself.

As I am a great history lover, and I`m also inclined towards the Russian factions, I just couldn`t stand playing the Ruskies (Novgorod) as that giant, completely ahistorical blob that the Late Campaign turns them into.

Therefore, I modded their starting positions to be in-line with their historical holdings of the era.

This setup should be especially fun for the people who like this faction, AND like a challenge.

Anyhow this is the file that needs to be changed:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/457d1s...escr_strat.txt

Download it, and extract it into your SS 6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\ folder.

You need to have chosen the Late Campaign when you ran the SS_setup (of course). Also, this submod/tweak doesn`t work with any other submods that mess with descr_strat.txt.

That means no Permanent Watchtowers, no Meneth`s Compilation, and of course, none of the mods that mess with the map themselves (Rolling Waves HURB, Serbian Hussar`s map mod etc.)

It should be compatible with most other popular submods.

    An update:

I forgot I also changed the faction selection screen picture of Novgorod, in order to reflect the changes I made to descr_strat.txt.
Here is another download that will allow the ones interested to also have an adequate faction selection screen:

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/ok5gdoe4is9md3c/data.zip

Installing this might seem a bit complicated, but it`s not. Here is what should be done:

    1. Download the .zip file I shared here, and extract it into your SS 6.3 folder. Merge and overwrite all the files you are asked for.
    2. Run the SS_setup (take note, this might erase various tweaks you have made to your files, proceed with caution!)
    3. Extract the .zip file into your SS 6.3 folder again (yes, again). Again, merge and overwrite.

After that, you should have both the ingame changes, and the changes to the faction selection screen working.
Again, take note that running the SS_setup will change some of your files, so make sure you backup any changes you individually made to your files.
Also, I`ll repeat (though it should be clear), that this doesn`t work with any submods that mess with descr_strat.txt (check above for details).

As I stated, this is a work in progress. I will probably adjust the starting positions for most factions, but since I enjoy modding primarily in order to play the game , I have no idea when any further work will be done (or will it ever be done for that matter).

So, take this, "as it is".

That is all, hope some of you like my changes.

Mine is just for Early era for now, so there's no problem +rep for the work.

So this is based off 6.3 right? If only everyone who loved a particular region didn't mind doing this. Could be halfway to a better late campaign. Though we still need a 1390 map or something like that.

    No, 6.4.
It`s just that the default install folder for SS 6.4 is still named "SS 6.3" (due to the way it is installed).

    If that`s what you meant...

Me too. I drastically changed Novgorod's starting regions for BftB2 for both campaigns. Novgorod in control of Moscow? Errrr...
