    Easiest way for singleplayer is as I described. Start a hotseat campaign as say Venice. Open the console. Type "control papal_states". Enter. Type "control venice". Enter. And there you go.

    What if you make the papalstates playable by the descr_strat?

    I dont think it does. One thing is sure, it destroys the gameplay and is way to easy. Every faction you attack is excommunicated. I must admit I only played a couple of turns and didnt get as far for an election.

    Oh cool so you could hotseat multiple factions sooooo you could like, make a European block alliance as like HRE and France or something? Or make Great Britain with England and Scotland? =D

    Yeah that is why I prefer to play hotseat singleplayer myself. Once you get too powerful and / or the faction gets a bit boring you can just switch factions.

    Omfg, really???

    I'm gonna try this. It's gonna be hard to let go of my empire once I build it up, but if I use a faction I've already played, it shouldn't be too bad.

    Or I could control two factions and they could help each other!

    Ah, this game still has a decade left in it for me. Worth the 50 bucks.

    Hotseat-singleplayer??First time i heard that you can play hotseat alone...The first try of hotseat was at LoTR:TW(Rome Total War mod) but it stuck when i was pressing next turn.....

    Of course you can play alone. You can start a hotseat with only one human faction or with 20 and play all of them yourself.

    don't forget to use this command in your medeval preference file. otherwise you cant fight defensive battles

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    [hotseat]
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 0
    disable_papal_elections = 0
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 1
    validate_diplomacy = 1
    turns = false
    scroll = false

    Are you supposed to copy this into a medieval preference file?
    Also does it affect anything else except making defensive battles possible in singleplayer hotseat?

    I tried to enable hotseat but nothing happened.I took Genoa and after i typed at console control papal_states but nothing.What can i do?

    Also in my medieval2 preference there wasnt any of these things:

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    turns = false
    scroll = false

    copy over the multiplayer section, should work fine

    also @ nexus, i think it also has a side effect, i think it has to do with message popups? but its not gamebreaking whatever it is, i think it just minimizes them, but its been soo long since i did hotseat i cant remember for shure.

    i can assure you it wont affect your game tho.
