adding the icon for the shield wall
hi,
ive succesfully been able to use the rtw-bi exe to load the rtw imperial campaign, and now my roman infantry can use the actual "shield wall" special formation from BI.
this is an aesthetic concern; the icon for the shield wall is missing - it simply shows up as a see-thru, empty circle.
What files do i need to add or edit, so that the proper icon shows up in the circle?
thnx a bunch

To get the right icons for the shield wall, swimming, and any other BI only trait you need to switch the battlepage_tga.s at: X\:Rome - Total War\Your_mod\Data\UI\CULTURE\INTERFACE to the BI ones (the shield wall one is on battlepage_03) to get the game to read them you need to also import the relevant .rsd file at the X\:Rome - Total War\Your_mod\Data\UI level.
I'm not sure if you can change them individually, we ended up using all the BI battle, shared and strat pages, this meant we had to cut out the BI faction logos and paste in the RTW ones, this works fine so long as you have a program that maintains the alpha channel (we had Microsoft Image Composer) or know how to do it in Photoshop!

On mine .rsd files were in: Rome - Total War\bi\data\ui
hopefully they are there in Vanilla version, (been through so many mods / patches I don't think I've got a straight version!)
Sorry assumed you were using the -mod:my_mod shortcut too.
I haven't tried altering those files at the rome - total war/data/ui level, I assume it should work, suspect you might need to be using the unpacked files. Think you'll need to back up your current version and experiment, unless someone else can help??

hmmm, i havent tried the -mod:my_mod shortcut yet. let me get this straight...
if i recreate the data folder in the rtw root directory, much in the same way as CA has done with the rome totalwar/bi folder, and then redirect the shortcut to that recreated data folder, that would be a proper set-up?
with the my_mod data folder in place, i make my changes in the my_mod/ui directory there. and because the shortcut has been redirected specifically to my custom my_mod data folder, when the game runs it will use the files in the targeted folder, instead of going to the vanilla data folder when using the standard, undirected shortcut.
hmm that is a bit confusing, but makanye, youve got my mind going. thnx a bunch, ill try your way out then
