    Default How does autowin work?

And how do I do it?

I just had 2 backtoback epic fights. The first I was besieging a Beastmen city as Middenheim, then out of nowhere they bring a reinforcement stack and sandwich my forces. I decide to fight, odds 3:1, and I won, like a mothaing champ.

Elsewhere my cities were besieged by them, they assault a poorly defended garrison of 800 with 3000. No worries I charge out with my general, heroically, like a mothing champ, draw their ladders and towers away from my walls, and hold the mouth of my gate with 3 Empire Infantry. The archers and oil make all who get stuck at this place roasted porupine beef. Sure they brought like 6 all gold Bestigors, but I say let them come! And I win with 400 dead and them with 200 remaining.

At this point I feel so good, like such a mothaing bad

And then I get a fatal graphics error and CTD.

Do I deserve to autowin? I mean I never cheat, ever, but this is too depressing...

That's why I'm not able to play this game without extensive cheating
Far too often it happens that after an amazing battle, when you couldnt be happier - BAM CTD!
I always save before every battle (you have to when you get CTDs like this, even if others consider it cheating)
and then if you get a crash after a battle what i do is to move the general out of the control zone of the enemy if i can, using the character_reset cheat if I have to, then make the general attack on his own so that the battle estimate is heavily against you. Then I do auto_win attacker, and pretty much destroy the enemies without losing any units, plus your general gets loads of exp There are always loads more enemy stacks for you to battle against if you feel bad in any case!

to do the auto win cheat: on the battle screen, just before you go into battle, you open the console (either using ` or ' depending on your keyboard) and type "auto_win attacker" if you're attacking or "auto_win defender" if you're defending.

I think CTD's are CHAOS factor of the game. I save a lot, but never cheat auto_win or add_money (only toggle_fow sometimes).
Do not cheat - it takes the pleasure away.

I see, but how do I save between battles when it's not my turn?

You can easily press escape once without spamming it while it's loading the other turns.

It would take a while to load since it's loading a ton of activities from other factions but will pause as it appears.

You can also press escape while you're at the beginning of a battle ( Before entering it, the screen where you see your number of troops, his numbers, reinforcements etc. ) and save/quicksave.

Type "~" to get to the dev console.

After that, type "auto_win attacker" or "auto_win defender" depending on which side you are on. Then press "Enter" and auto-resolve the battle.
