It's an eagle! No, seriously, it's actually a Saxon raven which I've tweaked a bit. There's a couple of icons that I'm not too pleased with, and the Frankish one is one of them. In vanilla BI, the Franks had a swallow for a symbol, I believe. Don't know if it was a European or African swallow though...

The Iazyges ( it's an I not an L ) were a Sarmatian nomadic tribe. I believe they're located north of the Danube.

Anyways, I've changed it now, and edited the preview. Now it's officially a Frankish bird of unknown origin.

I see you edited the original post. That new primani legionaire with oval shield and a slick Heddernheim helmet on the bottom looks pretty cool. Not to mention he's wearing brass scale armor!! Yeah!!! Gotta love lorica squamata.

Excellent work here! I particularly like how you've shown the gradual effects of the lex antoniniana on the equipment of the legions; this period being the last few decades of the lorica segmentata's use over the favour of the broader application of the squamata. Can I ask, could you post some of your sources for this equipment?

Also, I have to ask, will the Clibanarii be in?

I'm already too dependent on IB, the continuously Julian play mode, but it will be even better. I look forward to the appearance!

This preview was released the very day i finished reading Gibbon's decline and downfall of the roman empire. This got me very interested in the 3rd century crisis.. What is the end date of the campaign? 324 AD?

I did. It was very interesting and extremly helpful. I especially enjoy Gibbon`s biased writing style.

He bashes on Gallienus alot and says 'effeminate' quite a bit... I wonder if Gallienus was really THAT bad of an emperor though. Some scholars speak favorably of him.
