Good link! at one point he says that the Spanish finds cannot be considered coming from a previous age, so the Cordbridge finds belongs really to the time of the end of the III and early IV century.......but I'm reading more....Thank you! +rep

Always glad to pass on finds!
If my Italian can help me to understand:
"this discovery confirms the provenance of Lorica Segmentata of the type 'Cordbridge' up practically at the beginning of the Late Empire. We have to consider that the exemplar of Astorga cannot be interpreted as residual from an earlier era..."
So if I understood: Yes the fragments really are from a LS belonging for sure to the Late Empire, previously described as the end of the III century, or better: the last quarter of the III century or the first quarter of the IV century!

Good understanding, Diocle.

Any chance we will see units similar to these pictures ?
They belong to a picture of the battle of Nisibis in 217 AD featuring the II Parthica. There is also a very a very similar picture on "THE ROMAN ARMY" by Chris Mcnabb from Osprey. The legionares are using Segmentata, mail or scales, leg greaves, ovar or rectangular scutum, spathas ,lanceas, and lte imperial helmets.
They now wear long sleeved tunics, breaches and boots.

Wow, I berly noticed but it looks like that Centurion has both a spatha which he is using at the moment AND a gladius still in it's sheathe.

Happy to read that also you are waiting for RO more than Rome, Nobilissimus!
By the way even if I confirm that Win 8 is perfect, even if I repeat that my new machine is also perfect
, even if I officially refuse to admit any issue with them both
,......please SBH listen to me:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Side note: We are talking of 'Pteruges' and 'Padded cloth under armour' in RO, while CA is making the most childish and idiotic game about Rome of the whole tragic human history!
Actually I don't know if we are mad or the true mad are those guys working on Rome 2.........![]()

So I suppose it's historically accurate for some legionaries to have had those white pteruges under scale armor like that one guy does eh?

We know paded garment was used under the armour, i believe we can find pteruges on paintings of the late empire and we have no proof against or reason why it should not be used. paded vests used over or under armour were used until and during the ERE.

@Knon you haven't missed anything, I was linking RO with Rome.
As to say:
We, here are talking about interesting minimal details about historical accuracy in a wonderful incomingFREE Modfor RTW 1, called:
Restitutor Orbis, and until now it seems a magnificent game!......
....meanwhile the guys of CA are building a very expensive game called Rome 2.
And , until now, this new game called Rome 2, seems a total crap!
Now I've been clear I suppose.........what I want to say is: you don't pay and you get historical accuracy, beautiful units and a wonderful work by people who is doing the job only for cultural passion, and when you pay you get '0' Historical accuracy and chilish gameplay, as to say CRAP, by people who are professional workers belonging to one of the most important companies of PC gaming called SEGA, with a budget of billions of $!
MALA TEMPORA CURRUNT!
Side note: Please note my colour choices, I mean the perfect link between the word 'crap' the brown colour and the relation of them both with Rome 2 but also with the colours of TW Center upgraded (and not working)! I'm an artist!![]()

I still don't get that line of reasoning though. Again, that's like saying if vanilla RTW was like say, IBSAI, RO or EB it wouldn't have sold. I think it would have exactly the same at least, if not more, copies.
Game developers need to find their balls again, assuming they have any to begin with, and stop playing it safe with that kind of mentality.
