I'm sure their must be some Bill Hicks fans around here (i already know of one definite)
if you dont know about Bill hicks, here's the wiki entry

    Bill Hicks

Even if you havent heard of him, its quite possible you've probably heard some of his jokes. The man was an absolute genius, probably the best comedian i've ever seen.
The weird thing about Hicks is that his routines would still be eerily relavant today. A lot of his stuff was Anti-Bush (George HW, not George W) and he talks about Iraq, weapons sales etc.
Anyway, for anyone who hasnt heard of him, seriously you should get a copy of one of his DVD's

For everyone who has, i dunno, lets talk about Bill Hicks or something.....

Funniest man ever to live. I have Rant in Em, Arizona Bay, and Dangerious.

The following is a short bit from Arizona Bay-

"Iraq has awsome weapons just awsome weapons...."

"Well how do you know that Prez Bush?"

"Well...we just looked at the receipt."

    Hilarious man.

I like Bill's work but I must admit he is overrated (by Tool fans especially). When his material is good its reeeeal good but some jokes fall flat and he's too easily sidetracked by the crowd and gets too pissy when they don't "get" his jokes. He had this thing where if you didn't "get" his jokes you were automatically some sort of unintelligent peon not worthy to breathe the air.

That aside, I do like his philosophy on the world (most of the time).

Only problem with Bill Hicks is that he did tend to repeat his routines a bit.

Personally, my favourite part of his shows was/is when he starts attacking the audience. There is one of his CD's that springs to mind, (Rant in Eminor?) where he really goes off on one at some woman.

Strange thing is, it seems not many people round here have heard of him, which i find kind of disheartening.

I really think he is more underground. He never really made it big, he died before he had the chance. He did get voted 18 out of the 100 best stand up comics of all time on Comedy Central though, which is pretty good for never making it big.

I have a question for any one from Britan. When a dust bin gets knocked over by some hooligans does it make the front page of the paper?

    Well put it this way.

Id rather live in a country that is so unnacustomed to gang wars, rape, murder etc... that any time something "minor" happens it gets news headlines.

As apposed to living in america, a country where you basicly need to find 100 people gutted alive to make it even into a 30 second slot on national tv.

I wouldn't say its that bad.

Also Britain has 60 million (correct?) people so of course there are going to be less crimes

It was one of Bill's jokes, I was just wondering if it had any validity.

Actually, i'd say, by ratio, Britain is one of the most violent countries in the western world, except we dont use guns so there are a lot less murders. Very rarely is there any coverage on the news, unless someone dies, or there is a gun involved.

Of course, i dont have any statistics or evidence to back that statement up.
