Soldiers dying in the Sahara
Hey there, long time lurker, first time poster here =)
Firstly let me thank Dave and the others for this mod. I have gotten two years of enjoyment out of it now and that is no mean feat. I think this is the mod that the game should have been, tbh.
Anyway, I was marching my army from Arguin (the region south of Marrakesh) eastwards along the road to Timbuktu (I had a spare army and was taking out some easy rebel settlements!) but after 2 turns of travelling I noticed that the units were shrinking.
Is this part of the game or the mod? I must admit I was pissed at the time but now that I think on it it makes perfect sense =)

The desert towns are really irritating just because they take AGES to get near, provide you with bugger all income and constantly revolt! I havent noticed my armies dying when in the desert, unless they had the plague or something.

Re: Soldiers dying in the Sahara
I think I have OCD in M2TW in that I need to begin a siege with fully-manned units. On the long-walk from Arguin to Timbuktu my lovely, perfect, complete units lost between 1 and 3 men each. It would be cool if the same thing happened on the Steppe during Winter.

Yeah, you are totally right Rubicon, it was a fools errand really =) I just like exploring the map and I remembered that the ruler of Timbuktu back in Medieval times took so much gold with him on a pilgrimage to Mecca and gave away so much of it in Egypt that it has devalued gold to this very day. I was just wondering if Timbuktu was one of the super-rich cities on the map like Constantinople, for instance.
Lesson learned, though, I wont be sending my Huscarls across the desert again!
