Only if you will like the preview. (As a matter of curiosity: there will be about 130 PSFs in Hungary and Transylvania, and 30 in Croatia - 5 on the islands of the Ardian sea).

The first page would seem like a convenient place for that.

Yeah but I mean like proper cities, not castles. They were large cities at that time...

Oslo maybe (though it was in reality only officially founde in 1049, hard to imagine that it would be a "large city" at that point).. but Eikundarsund? it existed ... but large seem to be stretching it quite a bit.

1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

Apparently one can not mention enough that PSFs in DotS do not just represent castles. Yes, the screenshot shows them as castles but thats because this is a rather old screenshot where the castle model was used as a placeholder for all PSFs. Look at the latest screenshots of Britain if you want to see the diverse range of appearances of PSFs in the final product.
Remember, regions in DotS are used to represent historical political and governmental entities, with the "settlement" (in game terms) being the historical capital of those entities. Thats why you see Finland being its own region while Merv, one of the largest cities of the world at the start date, is a PSF (at least iirc).
So why are Oslo and Eikundarsund not settlements? Probably because they weren't capitals for the most time. Or maybe they were, but on a smaller scale than what was chosen for this region.

You might be wrong on the account of Merv being a PSF, as Hross posted this:

I could be wrong in assuming that this implies Merv being a region capital though, so maybe one of the guys that make this mod can fill us in on the details?

And if it were a PSF, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to me. Firstly because, as you mentioned, it was one of the largest cities on the map (third in my calculations, behind Baghdad and Constantinople). Secondly, as far as historical records go, it was frequently mentioned as being the largest and most affluent city of the Khorosan region, and its de facto capital. This is attested by sources that mention it as the capital of the Khorosani Seljuq splinter-state that came into existence after the disintegration of the Seljuq Empire in AD 1156, and though Nishapur, also a city of the Khorosan region, became the first Seljuq capital in AD 1037, it was more likely due to the city being more on the frontier compared to Merv than due to the city being larger than Merv (Nishapur lost its status of capital after 5 years, when the frontier shifted to Ray).

Merv is the capital of Khorsan Province in DOTS yes...

it should be noted, both Alp Arslan (he of Manzikert fame) and Ahmed Sanjar (the last man who was realistically in control of most of the great Seljuq empire) were buried in Merv.

It is actually Verona which in German was called Bern and until today is called Bearn by Cimbrians. Since settlement names can change and Verona is under HRE in 1080 it has its medieval German name.

You can have 7 type of visual PSf representation at the same time which is the engine limit (to cultures) . some combination of various city type / castle type and possibly even fortress / village / wooden castle / wooden wall towns are all valid

    Fantastic.

Will it's value change? PSF's might loose their economic value relative to proper settlements if they stagnate and settlements grow through time.

Unforunately their size and income cannot change over the course of the game. The estimated value of a PSF is determined by our team using historically accurate data throughout the DotS timeline, as per say we might not have much knowledge of a settlement in 1080, however in 1161 we have some data that is was an important commercial hub, then we assign greater value to such settlements, therefore the income of a PSF is based on real history, even if that might not come to pass in DotS (I.E a Byzantine settlement that was important in 1080 but razed to the ground by Ottomans a few centuries later would still be prominent, there is a lot of room left for interpretation, and we will see the endgame result in the beta if some PSFs need to be balanced).
