I would prefer for CA to work on using guerilla tactics more. If ambushing and hiding were more refined then they could explore more eras of warfare much better, such as the US colonists using guerilla tactics against the British, and various ambushes in middle eastern warfare etc
Cry God for Harry, England and Saint George!
I know lots of people think the other way around, but as I had my introduction to the series in ETW, I feel better with gunpowder. I am more used to organize my line of battle and sending it to forth until they can shoot at the enemy than to send massive melee charges. Of course I like melee era games, like Medieval and such, but I feel like a fish in the water with gunpowder.
I really have no problem either way as long as they don'tup. Gunpowder has the potential to look coller, but it's repetitive.
I beg to differ, nothing like the sound of clashing steel
sounds like you'd have a good time playing Civ gamesI would like to start with stone, cooper weapons and end with rail guns and lasers.
What do you mean by better tactics? as for guerilla tactics we already have the ambush abilityI would honestly like guerrilla tactics.
But I would also like better ship tactics.

I like the more ancient warfare. With swords, shields, spears, bows and arrows.
Gunpowder, if with swords I want my Persian Empire finally in!
I really hope they do a Renaissance game during the 'Pike and Shot' era. Lots of very interesting events then with things like the Reformation, the Thirty Years War or the War of the Three Kingdoms. Battlefield game play wise, it makes big use of both melee and gun powder units
Under the Patronage of Jom!
Melee combat, no doubt about that.
I always felt, that gunpowder was boring and uninteresting.
Idiots, Idiots never change.
As has been said, the Pike-and-Shot era (covered only a bit in Medieval II and not correctly at all) is interesting when done correctly, because technology wasn't advanced enough yet to have cannons that could fire more than once or twice per battle. It's basically a healthy mix between "regular" combat and gunpowder, but only (and I stress only) when done correctly.

A Renaissance era of warfare would actually be extremely interesting! Expansion packs could include various European conflicts and the English civil war etc. Would love to conquer Europe with the new model army![]()

Ok not world war 2 or modern combat but in a fantasy setting implement flying units such as dragons and a comprehensive system for magick users.
I prefer pike and shot, because I have everything so its more fun, but melee combat will be just fine for the next game because we can have ships with rams...
And legionaries with gladius.... >.>
