Default adding your own character names

hey all I recently got empire total war and I must say I enjoy it alot. So I'm trying to mod something into it now . I read some tutorials about changing unit names and the stuff but there arent any custom character names tutorials so I have to ask: how do you add custom character(general/admiral) names to your campaign? I got PFM and ESFeditor. I open up local_en.pack en add my custom names to localisation.loc then save it. open up patch_en.pack en do the same. Then I open up startpos.ESF find the characters I want the name changed of and change them to the newly added custom names and save it. But when I go ingame it doesnt show? just nothing no error or anything, I get a nameless general and Admiral :S pls help!!!

EDIT: nvm guys I fixed it. everythings is running just fine

Default Re: adding your own character names

    Hello,
Didnt want to make another topic so I think I'll ask here.

I struggle with a major problem. A while ago (think was about 2 years) was modding the custom characters names in the "patch_en.pack". Everything had been working fine. But now I wanted to have fun with E:TW again but cant manage to make the thing working. I'll try to explain everithing in detail.

    Firstly, the tools I use:
    -PFM 1.12

What I want to achieve is to make a mod, that will overhaul specific fractions (in this case PLC) custom character names (generals, priests, rakes, admirals etc.). I'm working on a more accurate and proper version of this factions names in E:TW period (unfortunately most of vanilla ones are absurd and unrealistic). I want to have a mechanism that will allow to launch the mod from a separate file, containing only the rows in the database that are meant to be changed (overriten in game) so that it wont be necessary to modify the "patch_en.pack" everytime a E:TW patch arrives. When I was modding this 2 years befor I was making changes to CA files instead of overhauling them (so when a patch came out, my modification stoped working from obvious reasons) but everithing was working fine then.

Now I have the list of names in an extracted "localisation.loc" file. I start PFC -> File -> New -> select the directory -> RMB 'add files" -> choose the modifyed "localisation.loc". The file is correctly inserted and the tables can be edited again. I change the Pack Type to "Mod" (tried with "Movie" but then the game doesnt launch at all). And of course create a script to launch the mod (unicode). But in the end the mod doesnt work - game runs fine without any CTD but changes are not implemented. I feel hopless - tried everything and have no idea what I am doing wrong. I hae the latest game version (steam). Could You guys please help me? I've spent the whole night reading Tutorials here, but cant seem to find out what I'm doing wrong

I've attached all the mod files if anyone would like to have a look (for testing purposes, the starting PLC rake's surname shouldnt be "Wojs" ).
