Guard mode orders a unit to hold their current position

When you have guard mode on the unit tires less in battle but dies faster since they do not really fight back.(From my own experience)

from what i know guard mode is better to be swiched on when you want to brace an atack
(e.g Cavalry vs spearmen) or when using voulgers, you want them in guard mode since they are effective that way

Guard mode also keeps the unit in a coherent formation, rather than backing up and spreading out, which really helps spearmen.
