Yes.
But somehow that was good. It was past time that GRRM reminded us that she's just a child after all. She's not really indecisive, she's just too damn kind. Freeing slaves from their evil masters is one thing, it's all nice and black and white. Being a queen, where all fades to shades of grey is much harder.
Look at the sort of mistakes she made:
Governing Mereen: The Shavepate had it right; kill all that oppose you to secure your reign. But Dany doesn't kill people for no reason. She wants peace and olive trees, not more blood on her hands. That IS naive, but she is a teenage girl that has seen way too much crap in her lifetime and wants nothing more than to return to the House with the red door.
Dragons: They are, by definition, monsters. She has no idea how to control them. 90% of people see weapons of mass destruction, Dany sees wild, child-eating beasts. Both is true, but most people are willing to oversee the latter, wheras she oversees the first.
Daario: Well, easy one. Teenage sexual fantasies and cold reason are like fire and water. Am I the only one who wants to see a gold-toothed Johnny Depp as Daario? It seems too fitting
In the end, Dany still has all the principles she had in the earlier books, its just that she realises that it becomes increasingly hard to live by them. She isn't oblivious to her dumb decisions (part of why she seeks solace in Daarios arms), but she can't seem to find a way to stay true to both her goals and her ideals.
By the end of the book, she's half-starved and half-mad. I can only hope that will add to the realisation just how much she botched up, and make her grow up a little more, much like the red waste did with the original Dany. She is at a point were she has to choose (she's been there for the whole Mereen-episode, actually), but I hope that the recent events help her to decide

In all honesty, I never really liked Dany. I suppose part of it's that I don't want ASoIaF to turn into a normal "child who is rightful king overthrows their usurpers and becomes the best king the country's ever had, but I never really saw any talent in her. She just has Targayen blood, and assumes that's all she needs. What do you think she would've done in Charles I's place? She condmns Robert as an usurper, but does anyone really believe Aerys would have made a better queen?
OTOH, GRRM says the ending will eb bittersweet, so perhaps Dany becomes queen (sweet to the readers who support her) but is a total failure, a bit like Cersei except not quite so bad but for much longer.
when i read him say it's going to be a bitter sweet ending I assumed someone, a fan favorite, will die during the process. Like say Jon's heritage is revealed, we love him even more, he then saves the realm from the white walkers but then he ends up dying.
Im starting to think she is never going to make it to Westeros. All i want are her and her dragons raining down ungodly murder on all the fools in KL.
I'm still hoping against all indicators otherwise that some how Stannis pulls it out of the bag; even though he isnt the 'chosen one'
I was rooting for Stannis for a while as well, but have since turned against him. When I started the books, I thought I would like him. However, as I became more and more aware of the stick up his ass, I started to like him less and less. He lets his sense of justice blind him to political realities and is too easily manipulated by Melissandre. He expects everyone to take his revelation that Joffrey, Tommen, and Myrcella are bastards as true without offering any proof. That is just plain unrealistic. Most people who are not in his service are going to assume he is lying to claim the throne, something that is not at all uncommon. He also asks his people to change their religion to a Religion they know little about and is foreign for that matter. He does not realize that while Justice is all important to him, real life concerns are usually more important to most people and Religion is one of those things.
Daenerys on the other hand is just inexperienced. It has often been said that conquering a kingdom is much different and easier then ruling it. She is finding that out at the moment. She wants to stick to her ideals and stay true to her principles but is finding it increasingly hard to do so. What Daario and Shavepate suggested to do with the Great Masters was sound advice, but she does not want to be a butcher. She does not realize that sometimes Kings and Queens have to be butchers, it does not mean they have to like it. What she needs to do but does not seem to be able to do at the moment is send the message that while she can be a kind and gentle ruler, she also has the potential to be cruel when the situation demands it.
I'm getting a bit impatient with her myself. I understand the journey..the transformation (which I thought was the Dothraki Pyre) but only first in many I reckon, but it's taking a long time. I would like to think that perhaps GRRM is building for something astounding.
Stannis, is the rightful heir to an usurped throne. That is really all I have to say on his position lol. Stannis is a man you could respect for his hardline ideals, while not actually agreeing or liking the person.
I promised myself I wouldn't give spoilers, so I'll stand with that as I've just finished reading DwD. However..the Jon Snow..Melissandre..Oh I've got some theories lol.
