Default Rome Total War SAV. files

Have RTW installed on both MY Laptop (New HP with Windows 7) and our Home Dell desktop (with XP Media Edition) where we've been playing these games for over 5 years....I allow my little boy to play on my laptop on and off....but I needed it Today for a work project.....so I thought well... let me just Copy the Saved (SAV) games files from the Saved folder on the laptop onto a flash drive...like I've done with other games of this sort (ie.Europa Universalis Rome Gold, Grand Ages Rome or Cossacks) and just plug in the drive and paste them into the Desktop's RTW Saved folder.
Inserted the Game disc....Splash screen and game demo played...ALL good....Menu opens up...still all good...I click load game (oh "Campaign" saved games btw..)...I see ALL the saved game's titles ....I pick his...the progress bar starts.....under the Proverb quoted from some famous ancient notable.
Looks like its going to load it.....andddddd...Nothing...game does not recognize these SAV files....sends me right back to the Load game menu...frustrating.
    any ideas?
    thanx

Not a piracy problem, but this can happen if your RTW isn't clean, do you have any mods installed? Also check to see that the versions are the same in the options menu. Also try deleting the save folder(make a copy first) then make a new one manually and paste the saves back in. I have had this problem b4, but only with mods

That isn't a piracy problem! Trust me

Corrupt save, perhaps? There's always a small chance that files get altered a slight bit when moving them around...

I would think it's probably a different version problem more than anything else.

The other thing it could be is if the laptop can run higher settings than the desktop can - when you try to load a save the desktop simply can't handle it and throws you back to the main menu.

As the specs of the machines have not been posted it's really just a guessing game.
