    Default Laptop Keyboard Problem

For the past 3 months i have been having a problem with my laptop keyboard. Pressing certain keys will launch things i don't want or bring up numbers. For example when i press the p key this happens p9. When i press 1 windows help and support will launch and a few keys don't work at all. Any advice which be much appreciated.
I am on fire, but an extinguisher is not required.

If it was my old desktop one, I'd just pop out all the keys, clean out the garbage collected over time, and put the keys back in, hopeully in the right holes.

try this and the f lock

laptop keyboards use 2 plastic pieces to hold the keys in place, you just have to pop the keys with a screw drive, or better some plastic tool, dont apply too much force.

there are no keyboards that are different than that, as far as I know, even backlit ones, for example my mbp is the same as my old lenovo.

Warning larger keys usually have a metal part added to it, so remove it with more caution

Would not recommend trying that with a laptop keyboard, the keys are extreamly difficult to fit back in normally.

Well it depends on the laptop, works well enough for my lenovo works laptop, popped that out a few times. We had a HP though and that was a bugger to get it re-sited properly.

That said, if you get the manual and follow the right way of removing the keyboard it should be easy enough, but definitely RTFM and don't just unscrew everything and see what falls apart I have found the manuals I have needed free online but as I've only needed 4 I can't vouch for everything. Look for the exact model number and keyboard removal in your favourite search engine.

Look for the FunctionLock key because it sounds like it's enabled.

The FunctionLock key enables the numeric keypad, for example.

    So this:

    iop
    kl;
    ,./

    Becomes this:

    789
    456
    123

And other confusing grooviness, like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,-,= becoming F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6,F7,F8,F9,F10,F11,F12

And F keys are windows shortcuts, like F1 is for help and support
