Default The world is round but I cannot go to America

I'm playing as Aragon. I have many cities at Hge lvl (maximum) and also their ports etc at maximium. I also can create all of the ship types (or show I believe, at least watching the menu of the settlement possible buildings).

There has been the announcement of the new world etc, two turns passed but yet my ships cannot go further than the main map. What am I doing wrong ?

I think the new world was removed from stainless steel in order to add more eastern areas.

The Americas was indeed removed, in order to expand the map eastwards instead.
Unfortunately there's a max size to the map, and since the vast majority of the western map would be the empty ocean between Europe and the Americas, expanding the map eastwards yields much more actually playable land, and not just the ocean.

the americas were terrible anyway, and for some reason geographically wrong. They were just a waste of resources really. If you want to play in america just play the americas campaign on kingdoms

The world is round?? Hah what's next - that the earth orbits the sun?

To the west there's just a vast ocean. Get your facts strait!

    Yeah.
But the universe is probably also round so if you keep going in the same direction you will come back to the starting point.
But this doesn't help you to go not even to the nearest star, Alpha Centauri, only 4,3 light-years away.
    How unjust the world is.
Probably we just need a modern Columbus who will show us how to do it.

It was just a comparison to understand why they cannot go to America even if they suppose that the world is round.

The universe might be round or spherical but this is not a fitting topic for the Stainless Steel forum

Gents, I have a cunning idea.

When the 'World is Round!' event occurs, would it be possible for a building to become available, that takes a fair while to build (like twenty turns) that represents a 'colonization effort' from that port, and when it gets built, it gives a randomly calculated bonus monetarily (Between -50 to +250 per turn) that stays fixed once it's built (reflecting how effective the colonization effort was - most likely than not you'll end up with negative numbers, so you have to keep burning the 'building' down and 'rebuilding' it, reflecting 'another colonization effort'), and reduces growth rate slightly, as people leave for the new world. Also enables recruitment of conquistadors.

    Yes, devious, crafty and cunning!

    @Alfonzo
that might not be a good idea, since such a building would be buildable by any port city, which would include areas such as Crimea, Levant, or the Baltics, which just rips apart any suspension of disbelief remaining to make the game playable...
but then again, if you can have standing armies in the medieval era (when most were simply hosts raised as needed) then "colonization effort" one-time buildings might be a good suggestion (though this http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=392698 is the thread for that).

You can easily limit where buildings can be built.

by the time the world becomes round your cities already make so much trade income that no one would waste time on building something, that adds only a little of extra income. 20 rounds is damn long and there are always better buildings to get, either for education trade or happyness
