    Default Laptop switchable graphics problem

So, bought the Thinkpad e520 yesterday with Windows 7 and the AMD Radeon 6630 graphics card, and apparently it has some sort of switchable graphics something.

I want to run on the 6630 constantly and not the Intel intergrated graphics, however I cannot find a way to switch. My dad tried everything. Does it switch automaticaly maybe? I couldn't find the e520 model info about switching.

I don't know really, maybe someone can enlighten me?

    Not nVidia tho.

I don't really like some behind the scenes program optimizing my preformance, I like to be the one doing that.

If it's i3 or i5 or i7, the artical is relevant as this technology is built into all three.

I don't have one to tell you. I gave you a link to Nvidia's marketing on it. Google for Intel's. Between them is your answer.

what game it was? AMD is using the same principle as optimus right now, which I hate. Its automatic switching.

    First things first.

You have to be connected to the mains to use the dedicated gpu.
Your games cant use opengl, the only example I know is minecraft

It was Men of War demo.

Anyway, I turned on TWS2 Demo and ran it on high with little lag. I assume the intel intergrated graphics cannot do that, so I guess I am fine?

No, it sounds like the Radeon card kicked in like it's supposed to for Shogun2.

Get hold Men of War maker and tell them about their demo installer in recognizing the Optimus Technology Intel is using.

Ron its not optimus, thats nvidia, for AMD its either BACON or powerplay

and yeah, there have been no hiccups for games that dont use opengl, thats only the thing thats stopping it from it being a quality switching implementation
