Yes, located in the downloads section, by vercingetorix
I was about to close this thread. THEN I realized I don't moderate here. And I can't.![]()

Now is there any way that you can mod the program to where you can play mp3 music while your playing in the battles? Imagine playing E.S. Posthumus while your battling... Kick ass...
Yes you can replace the WMA files with anything you like, i imagine that you might have to keep them the same length. but there's no reson why you can't have your men charge to some nice mellow slipknot if you wish. you just rename you file as the one in RTW, i've only done this with the intro music but can't think of any reason why it would be different with the rest., :wink:Originally Posted by sonoi_ronin
Yes, I've been wondering about all this for a while. But is it possible to add a song, like a completely new song? You would have to edit some text files but does any one know which ones and how?

descr_sounds_music.txt is the file you have to modify and its in the data folder
example of a few lines of this file:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; BARBARIAN MUSIC ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
culture barbarian
;;; BAttlE MAP
state MUSIC_BATTLE_TENSION
event volume +40
folder data/sounds/music
speech.mp3
;Tension2-Caesars_Nightmare.mp3
;Tension3-Death_Approaches.mp3
;Tension4-Drums_of_Doom.mp3
end
as you see there is a path to the music source: folder data/sounds/music
in your rtw installation you have the data/sounds folder and maybe the music subfolder. if you dont have the music subfolder just create it.
then copy all your mp3's you want to use in there.
then you just have to add your mp3 titles by writing their names in the txt file like this:
folder data/sounds/music
speech.mp3
mymusic1.mp3
anotherexample.mp3
for the battlemap sounds you will find 3 headlines in the descr_sounds_music file:
state MUSIC_BATTLE_TENSION <---this one plays the mp3 while the general holds his speech before a battle
state MUSIC_BATTLE_MOBILIZE <---this plays the mp3 file when your guys start moving
state MUSIC_BATTLE_BATTLE <---mp3's assigned to this will play during battle/fighting
also the musics are sorted eg there is a roman section of the textfile for the music playing when u play rome..there is one for barbarians etc.
if this sounds confusing to you that is just because i suck at explainingits really easy. just look at the textfile for a bit and search for the lines i described and you will understand it i bet.
when you assigned all your music you have to delete the event.idx file in data\sounds. if you dont your new mp3s will not play
good luck
I haven't tried this yet but I'm hesitant to. Replacing music, is it as easy as extracting the "sounds" files and just replacing and/or renaming the WMA's the extractor makes? I mean for animations you have to repack them and for UI you have to trick the computer with a blank text file. So, is it that simple or is there something else that must be done?

why dont you just add music files instead of changing the existing ones?
