    Default A question about aggressiveness

    Hey Guys,

In the campaigns, i've been playing, the enemy AI was often very unmotivated. My last campaign was with Mercia on VH VH. At the beginning you are at war with Wessex and Gwynedd. Even with that disadvantage, nobody tried to attack me. I got plenty of time to capture 3-4 settlements, and at that time it got a little boring, because there wasnt much of a chellenge there.

So what i'm wondering about is, if you also experienced inactive AI... ( by the way, denmark never invadet england in my campaigns...)

In the first few turns, yes it can be a bit slow. But I've gone to year 915 (in beta testing) and I can tell you that once you get that far, the AI is more challenging then any other mod i've faced. They will literally gang up on you, especially when you have a massive empire.

As Northumbria I was immediately attacked by full-stack viking armies. I managed to fight one of these off and lo and behold a Scots army hoves into view near Bebbanburgh. Seems quite aggressive in this campaign at least.

I think you are referring to the scripted Viking raids.
They work really well in my opinion, and they compensate a little bit of the lacking danish attacks. I really like the idea of the scripted attacks, but sometimes in my campaigns the vikings just went of, or stayed at a place for several turns doing nothing.
Btw: in my nothumbrian campaign the scots attacked my quite early, you are right!

Edit: I think my Northumbrian campaigns was the most challenging. The only con: i fought many battles, and conquered many settlements in early stage so because of the lack of a big city i never got the pleasure to recruit better soldiers...
