    Default Anyone heard of SecuROM?

(Mods, please move this thread if you feel like it, just thought it was suitable here since this is actually the mod I want to play.)

It's basically a program that exists on some games, M2TW among others and which don't allow you to start the game if the program detects an emulation software on your computer. Apparently this is to stop you from downloading the game and mount it with Daemon Tools or such.

    Anti-piracy paranoid nutcases, please...

The problem with this software is that it sometimes DETECTS an emulation software and refuses to let you install or play your game - despite it being an original DVD in your drive! This happened to me, and even though I removed DT completely, I can not for the life of me get this game to work. The only way I could do that would be to download cracks for the medieval2.exe and the kingdoms.exe which feels unnecessary. I've sent trouble-shooting files to SecuROM's website several days ago and received no response. What the hell should I do?

Did you perhaps update Medieval II Total War?

I can't install M2TW. Maybe I should've mentioned my computer is new, so I wanted to re-install the game, when this SecuROM issue started messing with me.

Securom prevented me from installing the Gold french patch, so I sent a mail to Securom 2 months ago... so too I had to use a crack... and now I don't buy Sega games anymore.

One of the problems is that every patch has a different region and they mess with securom. If you do not install the patch that corresponds to your game it bugs.

What, it can possibly work if I just re-install it over and over? But wouldn't I have to go through that awful process of removing the parasite that is SecuROM every time as well? Apparently the "SecuROM Removal Tool" doesn't even remove the program completely.

But thanks, I'll try to do that when the 3.0 comes out. Right now I'm in the middle of Shogun 2 (Darthmod of course).

On a second note, I guess I'll have no choice but to find a crack if this re-installing doesn't work. Gods. Never SEGA again.
