    Default the Daily Show Biased?

I love Jon Stewart. Hes a really funny guy. But sometimes he gets on my nerves. There seems to be a pattern on the daily show of Demacratic Representatives and Senators appearing as guests. when this happens Jon unvariably asks them their opinion on the White House and then seems to goes about agreeing and incouraging their negative opinion of the subject. There also seems to be a large number of left wing authors appearing on the show. For instance I've seen Nancy Pelocy(sp?) on the show a number of times.

Is it my imagination or is my 2nd favorite fake news show biased ?
(BTW, check out Steven Colbert's show if you've never seen it. That man has "Big Brass Balls")

Its hard to tell sometimes because he does seem to not like Bush very much and favor democrats but it is Comedy Central and completely worthless in all reality.

Then again...he HOSTED THE OSCARS!!!!!! He MUST favor dems because of that...

[directed to first post] well I wouldn't say so, he just picks at what's funniest at the moment, I've seen him attack both flanks of the governement, I mean it's mostly for laughs (like the "this week in god")

He's had donald rumsfeld and colin powell on the show, I know that for sure...

But y'know what, in the end its comedy, and John Stewart is liberal...so there you have it.

He even makes me laugh when he makes fun of politicians on both sides... he really does.

Who cares if he's biased? When did he ever claim to be a neutral comedy talk show?

As others have said, YES he is very biased. He never claims otherwise...

Which is the good thing about the show, its honest about what it is..

I recognise that he out to make fun of the government and I would expect him to do the same with the Clinton Administration but some times his questioning gives an insight into his own views. His questions often seem intended to provoke a negative assessment of the Administration. In addition he alone was calling the Iraq war "Mesopotamia" (clever) before most other news outlets had taken a negative stance towards it.

What bothers me the most is the audience who seem to be overwhelmingly liberal. I wonder how this happens but it would seem that the majority of his fans are Dems which adds further support to the argument that he must anti-bush

There could be the Chicken and the egg effect at work here though. It could be that there is a perception that he is pro-dem which leads to only democratic reps being advised to go on the show and GOP reps avoiding the show which would further credibility to the argument that his show is biased. Just like Fox and CNN generally have GOP and Dem reps on them respectively even though their news broadcasts arent that biased.

John Stewart is a lot like Bill Maher...a more kiddy version of Bill Maher. Bill is also very liberal and very biased, his audience is also all on his side, buncha liberal college kids usually. But he still tries to get a republican on his panel every week or every other week at least to offer the counterpoints, he's biased but its not like he fears what the other side would say (like Bill O'Reilly) and tries to stifle them. John does have republican guests every now and then, its probably just that not many republicans want to come on his show because they know its a liberal haven, and they will be booed the whole time.

I don't think that he has ever made it a secret that he is a liberal. I have seen various conservatives on the show, but both it and the colbert report are biased towards the left. Man I love those shows.

If the right wants to complain about liberal bias, they should get their own damn fake news show.

I think that the audiences are just given cues to clap/scream after he does something really good, and it doesn't really matter it gets balanced out by the colbert report.

Good Idea. Of course Comedy Central won't let em do it.

That's horrible, but I love it anyway. I'm going to have to remember to use 'tragicomedy' sometime.

Colin Quinns show was funny, I thought it was actually pretty good, the problem was that Colin Quinns humor went over the head of the audience half the time...plus his delivery isnt too great, he talks fast and always stumbles over words. His guests were great though, they had real issues to talk about, the chemistry between them was great...good show, I liked it and got ****** when it was canceled.

And...I got that "tragicomedy" thing from Scarface.

"Host: I've heard whispers about the financial support
your government receives from the drug industry.

Guest: Well, the irony of this, of course, is that
this money, which is in the billions, is coming from
your country. You see, you are the major purchaser of
our national product, which is of course cocaine.

Host: On one hand, you're saying the United States
government is spending millions of dollars to
eliminate the flow of drugs onto our streets. At the
same time, we are doing business with the very same
goverment that is flooding our streets with cocaine.

Guest: Mmm-hmm, si, si. Let me show you a few other
characters that are involved in this tragicomedy...."

They would definately be able to get one one on Showtime or HBO. Penn and Teller seem right wing from the 3 shows I have seen, but they are more libertarian than republican.

Plus I don't think Comedy Central would have a problem with it, they gave Colin Quinn his current events show, Tough Crowd, and he is right wing. Too bad Colin Quinn sucked.

Stewart is a lefty, no doubt about it. But he makes fun of both left and right, so it's all good (he just makes fun of the right a little more than the left)

Of course Stewart is liberal in his stance. He makes no effort to disguise it.

His show is great though, because one night it can be making fun of the administration doing something incredibly stupid, and the next night it will be slamming the Dems for being a bunch of pansies. It's equal opportunity satire, so what matter is it of Stewart's own political affiliation?

For example, tonight's guess was Sen. Feingold, who wants to censure Bush over the domestic wiretapping, but last nights guest was Georges Sada, the ex-Iraqi general who claims adamantly that there were WMDs in Iraq when we invaded, but Saddam had them all moved to Syria.

And those who think the show is biased must be overlooking all the segments he does on exactly how feeble, ineffectual and pathetic the Democrats are.

    Hmmm, some bias ...

    Yeah, it's biased.
But any normal man has the ability to see bias.
