Default External HD is fried; suggestions nedeed

So, I bought in December a external 1TB HD, a verbatim, it worked until few days ago when, while I was browsing peacefully I heard a popping sound coming from its power supply and saw the HD going off.
I realize the power supply is fried, so I brought everything to my local computer store to see what we could do.
They noticed that the power supply fried the hd's case too so they replaced the case, the power supply and the usb cable and gave it back to me.
I performed a scandisk and eveything was alright, the important data that I put in is not compromised.
I then opened hdtune and noticed some warnings (screenshot attached) on the health tab (note that it says samsung hd, it is wrong because that's my internal hd, it started to name it wrongly after this accident)
Since I'm really OCD when it comes to hardware I bought a Western Digital external HD and I'm backing up my data as I'm typing this; I'll format it when it's done to be safe.
Do you guys think it is safe to store files in this hd or not?

I'd reformat it, run the test, again, and if it comes back clean, yeah, I'd use it.

That program you are using. Can it mark bad sectors like checkdisk?

Back it up on surplus older HDD you have lying around; you'll sleep easier.

I don't understand that. You took it back to the place you bought it? Are they servicing Verbatim drives? I mean, I would have argued with them, or Verbatim, that they need to just replace the thing entirely. Certainly now.

I formated it and there are the same exact warnings, I've also checked the sectors and everything is alright.
One thing tough, when I backed up everything, before formtting, a few audio files were corrupted thus unlistenable, I don't know wether it was caused by the electric shock or by those warnings; if the case it's the latter I'd be scared to backup stuff in it.
    What's your opinion?

No, I brought it to the local computer shop; if I were to bring it to Verbatim's support I'm pretty sure they'd just give me another one, I couldn't lose the files in it so I did as I did.

Are you still getting the same error message? The CRC error one in particular?

When you took it in to be serviced did they replace the cable?

Are there any files you can't see/use on that drive?

If the files aren't corrupted then I'd say it's safe to use as a secondary backup. Check the Device Manager and see if the settings are correct.

1 Yes, I'm getting the same error messages even tough I reformatted it.

2 They replaced the cable and the case.

3 I saw evey file, now it's empty because I formatted it, about 10 files were corrupted tough.

Did checkdisk or another program mark the bad sectors as bad so they can't be used? How many sectors did you lose?
