Well this is unexpected, so will get back to you tomorrow with more details But for now:

1. Saudi Arabia has the most oil, Canada the second most... China is #13 in the world, with only 1.5% of the world's oil.
2. Yeah they do. But they're mostly relatively poor and cramped into the cities.
3. China is pretty much tied with America for third place in total area. Canada is the second largest country, and Russia is the biggest.

I'll start my argument that the USA is the most powerful country at the moment, with this little piece of evidence:

Also the US has 4,300 nuclear weapons.

America's military training programs are rated best in the world (okay, it's debatable when you bring the SAS in, but they're British special forces, so that's to be expected). Meanwhile China just has a lot of people.

China has money and manpower and not much else at present. America has money (at least for now), fewer but better trained and equipped troops, global projection, ICBMs, fighters, choppers, submarines, and experience.

There's really nothing to debate. For better or worse, at this moment, America is the most powerful nation on earth, and has been since the Cold War. China still has at least a few decades to go.
