Modding Templars and Hospitallars

Hey I was wondering how to successfully chnage the appearance of the Knights hospitallar and templar in the game to be more alike their vanilla versions. I am familiar with going into the battle models file and changing the respective model and texure descriptive line and have tries this but this does not seem to work

I was thinking of doing the same as quite a few of the vanilla skins were quite nice and were replaced by what i thought were lesser quality skins,nobel spearmen,squires ect were quite nice skins as i remember.
