    Icon3 A VERY BIG IDEA

    first off i need to know if there is any way to enhance the game engine. whether it be adding to it combining it with another or if somehow you could create your own. For RTW. Im sick and tired of only 20 factions, 200 cities, and 500 units. i want to break through that barrier but if it is not possible i understand. will give the details of my idea once i have a Clear answer on my question

    by the way my idea is huge thats why i need to know about the engine and also im a huge history buff and want to make this game extremely and exclusively historical so any feedback will greatly be appreciated

    They're called hard coded for a reason, they cannot be changed or modified, or it would have been done before. The only way is to make a completly new engine which would take years and a dedicated team, which isn't cheap.

    how is it illegal? like i see alot of restrictions due to "hardcoding" by changing that is that what makes it illegal due to copy right or something?? this sounds far fetched but how much would it take to make a new game? i know this all sound silly but im tired of all these ideas going in and out of my head, and if i could make something from it, it would be amazing

    oh, you answered my questions before i posted them haha, ok.. well how about this. since empire total war has a newer engine, compared to rtw, could we do something with that to make it into roman times?

    aaaah, probably not, because all foot units carry ranged weapons :suprise: and retexturing units is incredibly difficult and requires a lot of time with anything after Medieval 2...

    first off im a horrible modder but factions and units is what im good with on the historical side. first im thinking 280 B.C. to 475 A.D., include all empires, city-states, leagues, confederations, tribes etc. have parthia, and bactria appear down the road just like in history etc. also units would be historical. i can give more details as thats a fat idea but since everyone else has much more experience feel free to trim

    good point, although i did see a video for a preview of a mod for ETW that would take place in roman times. i will search for it. the only reason i suggested using ETW was becuase of this video. because yes ETW is mostly ranged units and it would be difficult

    yeah Roma Victrix was it! but making our own would be fun and pretty cool if it can be done. again when it comes to modding/textures/skinning/ etc i have virtually no experience haha but historically i have tons of ideas, we just need to find other people willing to help

    ya how about moving it to med 2.. that sounds good.. it looks like 20 factions? if there is an exact limit someone let me know because i need as many faction slots as possible

    Well in rome and mediveal 2 they basicalley have the same engien only haevely modivfied so there only 20+1 factions slots available the last faction slot is for the rebles

    Not exacly...I think they used rome as base,in the first priviuve of M2TW you can see the RTW diplomat,or the RTW barracks...
    A bomb's a bad choice for close-range combat.
