Default My sub $100 water cooling setup

What do you guys think? I want to see if I can build a good water cooling setup for about $100, and after some reasearch these seems to be the best bang for the buck parts:

    Waterblock: D-TEK White Water

    Black Ice Pro Radiator:

    Coolant:

    ViaAqua 1300 pump:

And some ClearFlex 3/8 inch ID tubing:

If you add everything up, including the shipping, it should come out a little over $100, a tiny bit over budget :sweatingb but it seems to be a pretty nice water cooling setup.

I beg to differ. The rad is wayyyyy too small.

Yea I kinda wanted to get a bigger radiator too, but I'm under a pretty strict budget. If I some how manage to get 10 more dollars, I think this radiator should do it:

I might have to cut back on my tubings and stuff though, to save money

Haha, I remember seeing a guy that built one of these things, I have always wondered if they ever works. I think I'll stick with my radiators though, maby when I got some extra money lying around one of these days I might try that, but for now its a little too risky. I'm guessing its going to take a lot of room, which I know my parents won't like.

Heh, nice bong cooler. I was actually planning on building one of those this spring when it got warmer.

About the rad, try looking around automotive websites. You'd be surprised how much one of those Black Ice coolers looks like a heater core from an Ford F-150 truck.
Personally, I use a Hayden 512 transmission oil cooler in my setup. It's a small racing cooler generally used in Mustang Cobras. I can fit UP TO four 80mm fans or two 120mm fans on it.
Doesn't matter where you get the radiator from just look for tightly packed fins. The correct size fittings you can get yourself for less than $1.

btw, my Hayden was less than $20.

Thanks for the tip, I guess I'll look on ebay and online stores for heater cores. I'll keep you guys updated as I purches the parts and put them together

My rad is the heater core from an 86 mustang...a helluva lot cheaper than buying the thing retail.

Well I looked on ebay and found a bunch of heater cores, but the big ones that can fit 120mm fans cost $30+, is there an online store or something where I can get them cheaper?

Well, if you have the time, you can check out a local auto wreckers - they should be able to give you one for a lot less than $30.
