It is actually the Sino-Japanese War. So that would make it the Battle of Yalu River.
Pretty sure it's the battle of the yellow sea.
If it was the Yellow Sea then the enemy ships would be painted yellow and would have Russian naval flags. Those enemy ships are from the Beiyang Fleet.

Is there a name for this style of art? I find it very fascinating how it takes traditional Japanese drawing styles with some western influences, in addition to Western uniforms. Very much a cool combination of old and new.
