It is the Bersaglieri taking Porta Pia when the Kingdom of Italy conquered Rome in 1870.
My original guesses were some action near Sebastopol, or the assault at Magenta, even Solferino possibly. But it occured to me that there was no significant Bersaglieri assault during any of those city actions.

Correct, the breach of the Aurelian wall at Porta Pia on September 20, 1870 after a four hour cannonade by the forces of the Italian Risorgimento. Thus the end of the Papal States.
