Is this Nettuno? This is the only other place that I recall that was part of Operation Shingle other than Anzio.

no it is not; here in Italy we inf act call that battle the Battle of Anzio/Nettuno, but this specific event happened just few days after the beginning of the Operation Shingle.

I know it's quite difficult to guess it as it is now, so I'll give you a hint: as of today, there's a famous brand named after the town (which was a small village back in '44).

This one is particularly famous because it is said to be covering the Battle of Anghiari by Leonardo da Vinci, which in turn is even more famous, despite no one ever really seeing it, because it was supposed to be part of a pair of frescos, one from Leonardo and the other from Michelangelo (Battle of Cascina), but neither of the two was actually realized.
