Well, here I am, naively thinking that I found a nice, little challenge, and Oda spoils all the fun just for the giggles.
The Siege of Kandahar.. 1737. I believe you have posted this before.

Daughter, Heir, and Wartime Consigliere of King Athelstan
I've seen this before but I don't remember if it was on Wikipedia. It is a French army fighting... a British army? So it is either the Seven Years War or the Austrian Succession War. I don't recall any pitched battle fought between the British and the French during the American Revolution, except maybe in India.
I think it's the battle of Fontenoy, though 1) I'm not sure and I didn't find the pic on its wiki 2) I'm embarassed to admit that I had to go through a lot of wars and battles before settling on this one. I think your pic illustrates the moment at the start when the French and British were haggling over who should fire first (each wanting the other to start).
The following pic shows the same engagement thrice, just to give you the maximum hints possible on a semiobscure event, plus on the right side the aftermath.
The image is large res. Don't be too afraid of opening the image in a tab and zooming in for some extra hints regarding the nature of the battle.
It's the Russian brig Mercury escaping from Selimiye and another Ottoman ship of the line. I didn't know the name of the engagement, but, according to the Wikipedia, it must be the action of 26 May 1829. During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the Ottoman army and navy was probably in its worst condition for the entirety of its history.
Correct! Can't rep you though :/
However bad the state of the Ottoman navy was, it massively outgunned the small ship it was chasing. The defeat should've been impossible, and the Russian captain later stated he had planned to blow his ship up and a Turkish one with it, except it never came so far. The other ship was the Real-Bei.
The Russian ship suffered the following damage:
- 22 hits in the corpus
- 133 hits in the sails
- 16 hits in the spar
- 148 hits to the rigging
- a plethora of other damage, including one destroyed cannon.
It was still extremely lucky, with only 6 killed and 4 wounded.
Adding to the irony is that the Real-Bei at the time had an additional passenger, the former captain of the Mercury, who had been captured days earlier when he had surrendered a Russian frigate without fight to the same Ottoman squadron.
When its on the tip of your tongue but you just can't tie the nots together.. dammit.
Damn, this is why we reduced the limit from 5 to 3!

The movie aside, that's a real life picture depicting the damage caused by the bombarding against the besieged city. The battle resulted into the collapse of a dynastical monarchy that existed since the 18th century.

looks like Turkish units, unfortunately that's where my knowledge ends. Maybe Baku in reference to the fall of the house of th Qajar? Though that's a bit of a stretch probably.
