    Default siege lockups

ok, sometime when I fight a siege battle, the game locks up (runs verryy slowly) and it appears to happen when the 8th thread on my CPU goes to 100% and cannot move lower. All other threads are 0% so obviosuly the game uses the last thread for something in siege battles and ignores the rest ? i wonder if this can be fixed?

Makes me wonder if you use any submods, in particular AI mods.

You got 8 threads with your CPU?
Well, based on the M2 engine, which is quite a epic old thing(but still working great), back then there isn't many 'multi-core' thingy.
So the system only support a single core.
Sometimes it take all the 'cores' as one, which doesn't use the ability to the max.
    Sometimes it just mess up.

As good as the modders here are in general, I don't think they can get M2TW to use more cores. I expect you'll find that it only ever uses 1 core, but you probably only checked it when and because lag was severe.

Do these siege battles where it lags happen against certain factions or in a particular settlement/type?

It depends on the brand and type of processor how many threads are used. Even though the game sometimes uses several cores it will not get most out of this as it uses this group of cores as 1 processor.

At which point in battle does the game freeze? After the gate is breached, after a general dies?

You might try forcing single core use, my friend had a similar problem and that seemed to solve it.

generally happens very late in the battle, usually fighting on the walls, no gradual slow down, all of a sudden cpu at 100% and ..errrrr ..rrr .Moving the camera away from the fight doesn't seem to help (LOD ??)

Doesn't seem to be related to any particular faction. I'm currently Orcs and i was defending a wooden castle when it happened. (BTW, I hate these 7th cavalry wooden walls, hold very few soldiers and on Huge army size, units cannot access many wall sections! Hope they are being replaced.)

My previous game I played dwarves and cannot remember slow downs happening at all? hmmmm ..

I've worked it out .. AI soldiers trying to access the siege tower get confused and it locks up. i fixed it by sending out a squad of soldiers, through the front gate to attack these soldiers. The AI soldiers then have to ignore the tower and fight this new squad ... lock up vanishes!

So .. if anyone has access to the source code .. or CA is willing to do a patch ..
