if u've read the guide...just start playing and look up whatever confuses you as you go. It gets easier after the first campaign of doing that.

don't worry if you fail the first campaign, thats where you learn by doing, happened to me as well and if it was that easy there wouldn't be any fun. theres plenty of new stuff that is confusing, just remember to read all traits, especially those your leader gains are important. the descriptions explain a lot, and if thats not enough feel free to ask.

BGR changes many aspects of the game, making it a whole lot different to play, thats why there's such a huge manual.

The most important things are the war council and professional training staff, later only war councilors can lead armies and only war councilors with professional training staff will be able to recruit good units so some at least must stay in castles,
there are also lots of "hidden" costs that you must compensate for, mercenaries for example cost more, heavier armor, horses all cost more aswell, so sometimes you might find yourself going into debt with out realising, so keep an eye out.

The Orcs of Gundabad Erin go Bragh FROGS

When I came back to Dublin I was court marshaled in my absence and sentenced to death in my absence, so I said they could shoot me in my absence"
    Brendan Behan
    The Irish won an Empire
    The Scots ran an Empire
    The English lost an Empire

"When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, 'Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?"
    - Quentin Crisp

There is one weapon that the British cannot take away from us: we can ignore them.
    - Michael Collins

They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn't want to be broken.
