    Default Libyan rebels abused civilians...

The campaign group Human Rights Watch has accused rebels in Libya of looting, arson and the abuse of civilians.

Observers from the New York-based group say they have witnessed some incidents themselves, and have interviewed witnesses to others in territory recently seized by rebels.

Considering this, are the Libyan rebels any better than Qaddafi and his supporters?

That is like asking whether Stalin is better than Hitler.

I couldn't think of anything better to say...

In some months, I'm sure that we will pray that the West hadn't attacked Gadaffi for I see yet another chaotic African state emerging.

When was the last time NATO cared about Human Rights?
Under the patronage of Emperor Maximinus Thrax
"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."

This isnt all that bad as it really doesnt seem to be policy, but the rebels leaders need to take these claims serious and not ignore then. They really do need the wests support and dont want victory taken away when its so close.

I'm just wondering how the rebels could be doing this to the Libyan people. Aren't they supposed to be fighting to free themselves from a tyrant; only to abuse the population in the exact same way?

Peaceful civilian protestors ≠ rebels. Different groups with different aspirations. The rebels were only played up as the good guys in the Western media so the West could ride that wave to achieve whatever goals they have in Libya.
Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main [sic] incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus. [A] necessary degree of fear, [...] frontier incidents and [staged] border clashes [will] provide a pretext for intervention. The CIA and SIS should use [...] capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension. [Funding should be provided for a] Free Syria Committee [and arms should be supplied to] political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities.

It's a civil war, this isn't surprising. That said, it's completely unjustifiable in every way.

If anything, they're worse, in all aspects.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.

It's actually a good thing, pro-western and pro-israel governments will be overthrown.

The only problem with that statement is that Libya isn't pro-West. So that wouldn't change anything in that respect.

Egypt was. Syria isn't. Libya isn't. Yemen is/was depending on how things turn out. Bahrain is. I don't know about Tunisia. None of them were or are Israeli puppets.
