Heh, I know that it's pretty simple stuff really

What I really want to know is how to give ONLY the general more hitpoints as well as the officers but I see the officer bit can't be done. Thanks for all the response guys

Officers have the same hitpoints as the unit they are assigned to, its the way the game works.

I don't think that is correct. Officers sure as heck don't "die like peasants." They are often the last guys left in the unit, and they do well fighting even when triple teamed. Considering they are in the front row and on a flank they should typically die very early, but they don't. I've heard some comments about them getting an extra hit point or two from semi-official sources. They can still die, but that is mostly from things like charging into pikes or other suicidal things. I'm not aware of any place to give the captains, officers, or signifer's extra hit points or stats.

Yeah, these generals, lesser_generals, standard_bearers, musicians and so on can take some right punishment before you manage to slay them. I was just messing round with a custom battle the other night with 1 unit of Principes vs 1 unit of Armenian Heavy Spearmen. Once the two units engaged in melee, I just let them slug it out for a while.

The Armenian lesser_general hit the deck more than half-a-dozen times in the few minutes I watched his engagements, but still got up just as quick to lay into some more principes. It may be bordering slightly on the fantasy side when someone can get back up again from repeated attacks, but as soon as your general is lost, then your units suffer the drop in morale, which is sometimes more than enough for you to lose the battle.

Officers/tribal leaders were often the best equipped, best armoured, and arguably the most experienced so it is not unreasonable that they should stand up to some considerable punishment (and dish it out.) However, I agree that it is amusing to see how many times one can go down, especially to sword thrusts to the back, and still get up again.

I think once some of developers said at ORG, that officers have +2hp and generals/captains +5hp compared to regular unit.
(or was was is +1hp for officers???)

I'm not sure, but I remember the same basic comment.
