    Default Medieval II install problem

Hi, I just bought a new copy of the standard edition (not Gold or Kingdoms) Medieval II the other day. I can install the first disc fine but it then says 'Please insert disc two that contains the file main\movies\demo_mtw2_campaign.bik'. I put in the second disk and that loads fine, I can find main then movies, but when I go into movies, the file I'm looking for isn't there. I've already taken the disc back so that's not the problem. I'm aware that this problem has been brought up several times already, but so far I have not found a clear solution. Thanks in advance!

I'm not quite sure what you're implying here. Are you saying that the installer freezes sometime after inserting the 2nd disc? If so is there an error message?

Or are you actively looking for a specific movie on the 2nd disc?

Basically, the install requires two discs, and in order to start installing the second disc, you need to find a certain file, which either isn't on the disc or cannot be accessed.

I'm very sure that the installer shouldn't be asking for a particular file. It might be asking you to point to the disk that it's being installed to.

Where did you buy the game from?

I've re-installed the game plenty of times XD
Don't direct the installer for the second disk directly to that file, because it's packed. Instead, direct it to the directory the disk is in.

    For me, it's F:\ drive.

It appears you've misunderstood the installer, dearest Awesome.

The installer simply notified you of what it is looking for, it didn't mean for you to find it directly. Direct the installer just to the drive with the disk in it, you don't need to find the file itself, as Diamond as so graciously pointed out, the file is most likely packed.

Good luck! Tell us if you have any more problems.

Thanks! Managed to get it working. Although I may feel like a bit of tool now for not understanding that, I can now enjoy Medieval II. (Which is all that matters in the end)

Don't have to feel like a tool, if anything it sounds to me like you're too smart for your own computer.
