No Pope??

In my game the Pope has died, and there weren't any papal elections. There's no Pope. Why is that happening? There's lots of bishops. Why didn't any elections happen?

Christian meaning Catholic of course. I don't think the Romans, Christians as they are (Orthodox technically is Christianity, in case someone doesn't get it) get popups about the elections.

that wouldn't matter, they still get elected....only time i have not had elections is when there were no cardinals and thus no one to do the election, now...i did this on purpose...but still i guess it could happen randomly.

I'm at the XIV century still. Henry VIII wasn't born...

When I played again today the elections happened. This was probably just a strange bug .
