Alright, I wanted to run some tests to make sure I wasn't seeing things.
I've heard it said that even though it isn't registered on the unit roster, the chevrons really do increase the attack and defense by one each chevron.
So here's what I did: Dismounted Huscarl, 2 chevrons, bronze shield vs. Armoured Sergeants, no experience, no chevrons. On Normal in the Grassy Plain.
The Dismounted Huscarls lost only 21 men. To the enemy whose unit was destroyed.
So second test: Same as the first except now the Huscarls have all gold chevrons; six in total.
The Dismounted Huscarls lost 37 men, to the enemy who again was destroyed.
Now, this seems to be defying logic as to a better experienced unit loses more than a regular. Why? It kills the purpose of getting experience. Is there a way to change the unit experience register like in Rome?
(I would also personally like to see gold and silver shields and swords return, but I know that's not happening).
