    Default Leader defied

    Hey guys,

I really like all the work you put into the new 6.4 SS.

It's the first time I'm playing with BGR III or IV, it's pretty hard, but fun.

There's only one thing which bothers me a lot and makes my current campaign unplayable.

    Ok, what happened:

    1. King restricted foreign attacks to Heir (if in WC) and himself

    2. My heir joined a crusade, came to late to conquer Jerusalem. I still had that huge ass army so I decided to burn down Ireklia on my way back at least.

    3. Heir was not in WC, because he joined crusade, so he disrispected the Kings order.

    4. He received the trait "Order:Warning" and had like a -500 fee to pay.

    5. Suddendly all kind of generals get the leader defied trait. (i thought that would not happen if there is just a warning?)

    6. It was clearly because of the attack of the heir, I double and tripple checked all stats of my generals and could not find any banishments or warnings.

    7. Then my heir betrayed me, lol

    8. So, its 4 turns since the leader defied trait showed up and it wont go away. I tried the pardoning thing too, it doesn't have any affect.

Is this a known bug? Did I miss something, I read the manual carefully but I'm still new to BGR IV.

edit: strangely one of my WC members (neither king or heir) led different attacks (and conquered cities) and did not receive punishment.

    Btw, off-topic question:

what do you do with nobles that have huge debts and horrible character traits (zero everything).

I planned to put all these suckers on a boat and suicide them, I don't have to pay their debts then right?

You pretty much need a new king when that happens because when the leader issues a pardon then it's a sign of weakness and his generals will continue to act rebellious, knowing he is a softie. IMO when that happens it's most often best to just banish the general who defied the leader or send him to his death.

Actually yes, that might be the best solution since this guy is 72 years old.

Right now I don't see a fast possibility to get rid of him.

Is there a command that kills characters? It's not cheating, it's roleplaying, my heir is very mean. =)

You should be able to assassinate your own players, but you can't. Just send him against another army 1 v all of them or board him on a ship and go hunt some pirates.

    Hi again,

    long live the new king!

Unfortunately a lot of my generals still do not agree.

The brand new leader is defied too and generals are still at zero loyalty.

I skipped a few turns and still the same issue. King has maximum authority, but is marked as "defied" along with several generals.

How can generals obey his orders in the -first- turn of his reign??

I have absoutely no idea what to do now.

It would be so nice, if someone could spare some time and check my savegame file.

I'm using BGR IV EH/RR, h/h , no submods installed, changed turns to 0,5 , deleted the char ageing script.

did your king issue any orders e.g. "campaign of terror" or "chivalric code"? those are active within turn one and if your generals disobey them, ransoming captives or raiding towns count as disobedience for both, then your leader gets the defied trait.

Captains can also break the law BTW, but assuming it was a general pls check all your generals' traits to see if anyone is responsible (since the new FL).

Is anyone else able to check his save game. I can't right now.

Can you also upload the file you altered in case you accidentally deleted something from it?

It isn't very likely to be a bug because each turn the script resets rebellion and only reapplies it if a character is currently causing it.

These generals may be triggering rebellion as they go bust and lose their estates.

They can fight and keep the ransoms from battles or conquests. Also if you have a city with a market level of fairground or better he can govern there. His income will be linked to the tax level, so put it up. He needs to govern there for a few turns before being able to extract this much money.

It isn't ideal to have to save them like this after the event. Much better to plan in advance and not let them go broke in the first place.

np gonna go and have a look at whats wrong, you took some time teaching me and answering my noob questions Byg and i love BGR now.

so found out whats wrong u have a general that was banished but is in your capital thus disobeying orders. you have to get him out of your lands. he is banished for loosing his estates and going bancrupt as said in his description.

edit* another bancrupt noble is in edinburgh, he borrowed 2k and if u are not careful he will loose his estates soon.

Wow, thank you for your afford Nyaria, this general clearly was the issue!

I'm glad it was just my stupidity (could swear, I checked everrything, *facepalm*) and not a bug, so I can continue this campaign.

Regarding the other almost bankrupt general in Edinburgh: he is carrying the supply train wagon, this costs lot of money, right?

He'll only buy supplies for himself or the supply train if he has enough money spare, i.e. over 2000.

Better to give it to a rich general anyway because if he takes out a loan he will use it to buy supplies or to one that has recruitment authorisation (usually those with Professional Training Staff ancillary) because the treasury pays for their costs (except taxes of course).

Making someone a WC before they lose their estates provides a bit more pay, but they might not be a good general. That's your decision.
