    @seanjkl

    Look in the descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt file and see how the settlement is named in that file. You can get the province name of the settlement by using the 'show_cursorstat' command from the console while the settlement in question is selected.

    Look in the descr_regions.txt file. You should be able to find it in the ...\data\world\maps\base folder. I do not have TATW installed at this time so I cannot give any better advice at this time. Waiting for MOS v6.0 before I reinstall!

    I installed TATW and looked into your problem.
    Thranduil's Halls = Elven-Mirkwood
    I found this out by looking in the descr_strat.txt file and looking at the names of the starting cities for the Silvan Elves. Since I knew what general started in which city, I could deduce the name of the city by the province name and then looking in the descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt file for that province and thus the settlement name. There must be an easier way, and I will continue to look for it.

    Edit: I downloaded and installed the Geomod tool from the mod forum (under mapping) but then discovered it does not work with this version of TATW.
    Edit2: I found what I think is the best way to get the settlement name.
    1. Place the mouse pointer over or near the settlement whose name you want to obtain.
    2. Use the 'show_cursorstat' console command to get the region name.
    3. Open the ...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data\text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt file.
    4. Get the province name by using the 'Find' command and inserting the region name from step 2.
    5. Open the ...\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt file.
    6. Again using the 'Find' command, insert the province name obtained in step 4.
    7. Under the province name will be the settlement name.
    There may be a better way of doing it, but I can't find a quicker and more accurate method at this time.
