    Default Faster Marius Reforms

For those of you wanting to reach the marius reforms a little bit faster read on. After crushing carthage, recruit peasants from non carthaginian settlements (preferably from cities with low public order) and disband them on the carthaginian cities that require an imperial palace.

I made this post because before I knew this, I was playing the game about 4 months in with a very large and vast empire and still have not yet reached the reforms. This is because some of the carthaginian cities have a negative population reduction. Hope this helps for people trying to reach the reforms.

So what your saying is: You need an Imperial palace in a carthaginian city to achieve reforms. Is that right, cause I have a problem where I've wiped out Carthage but I'm still unable to achieve reforms?

Yes, in all of the key Carthaginian cities.

And recruiting and disbanding peasants is a good strategy, useful in vanilla Rome as well.

That is correct. An Imperial Palace in all Carthaginian Cities. Extremely easy to achieve with the peasant transfer strategy.

im still mopping up carthaginians on the north african coast, but nearly all of italy is tier 5 city as well as Carthage lol :p . prolly due to some ai bug all of their forces were stacking near 1 city in Spain for years lol.

do i have to destroy the faction or capture specific provinces?

There's a more accurate list somewhere here, but roughly you need to capture and upgrade the settlements that Carthage holds when the game begins in 215bc

Destroy Carthage completely and build an Imperial palace in all cities. Start with the Carthaginian cities in North Africa. I wouldn't worry about settlements in Spain as much.

    not faster. Its an necessety.

In irder to build imperial palaces you need population boost wich you can achieve faster by shipping peasants into those cities.

ok.. so all of the Carthiginian settlements??

I don't think all of them. Just the STARTING Carthaginian settlements. Meaning if you start a new game, the settlements that Carthage has at the beginning of the game are the settlements you need to upgrade to an imperial palace. To upgrade it to an imperial palace faster (because these cities suck and have population reduction with each turn) ship or transport peasants from other cities then disband them there to upgrade it faster.

Nah he'll be fine, some of the cathaginian cities have a negative population growth, even with all positive buildings built! so unless you move peasants around you'll never beable to build royal palaces there. The whole reason LT included peasants was for population controll and re-settlement. what you're not supposed to do is recruit armies of peasants and send them on suicide missions or sink them, but relocation is fine.
