Default Rome Total War : Family

    Hello everyone,

I've been playing rome total war for ages now, never tried a mod before, but i'm looking around for one now.
I was just wondering, since i never came across it....Do historic figures such as Gaius Julius Ceasar appear in the game? or are they all just random.

    Greets,

    Dobas.

Ps: If it notes this somewhere else on these forums yet, i am sorry, i googled this question for an hour or so, but did not come across an answer.

Ps2 : Do not mistake my question, i am not asking if there is a mod with historic figures in it, i am asking about the Vanilla RTW.

Unfortunately they do not appear, though family members can be born with such names. In my Greek campaign, my faction leader had a son named "Leonidas of Sparta''!!!!

I could of sworn if you played long enough as certain factions and still had the right type of family members that you could get Gaius Julius Caesar or even Hannibal...But do not quote me on that as it could just be a rumor and I am not 100 percent sure that's even true heh...

I have come across ''Leonidas of Sparta'' aswell now you mention it, but besides that one i am sure i have not come across any historical figures, maybe a few names got close but they were not in the right time frame anyways.

That's because Leonidas was a common name for Spartan kings.

I once had Augustus Caesar about 150 years before his birth.

Nop but there are names that remind me of historical figures like Vercingetorix, Ambiorix, Leonidas, Marcus Aurelius etc.

They do appear sometimes, it doesn't happen often but they do appear. I had Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony once in my game.

No they do not appear. People with similar names may come up every once in a while, but not the actual historical figure.

On another note, occasionally, you do get historical retinue figures. Usually poets and philosophers. I think you need to fulfill certain criteria and be at a certain time period to get them.

I think it also has to do something with those schools you build, not sure though.

Hercules is also in this game. He didn't burn himself and died, but he is the heir to the throne (i believe) of Pontus.

Thrace can also get a "Spartacus" which is really cool. Very ironic if you take over Capua with him

Again common Thracian name but Spartacus does appear but only as a rebel general towards the end of the game, when the gladiatorial rebellion happens in Italy.
